I am sorry that this is becoming a common request.
But I would like to buy 5 17"rims tyres optional.
This will be second set for off road. I think Cooper Sts or Micky Thopmpsons ATZ as fittment.
Thanks

Davo,
If you are aftermarket get a set of 17*8" Performance Wheels (style BB6) or a set of 17*8" GMAX (style M168).
Wheel offset that will come on these wheels will be 38mm if my memory is correct. The OEM wheels (in the 18") has a 53mm offset. There is no clearance problems with this set up when using 245/70/17" rubber. I also read on this forum others have fitted other sized rubber with bigger overall diameter without any real problems (apart from some minor rubbing)

Your best bet would be to buy aftermarket rims. Performance Wheels have some mag wheels and you may be able to get a steel rim from Dynamic Wheels. See other wheel and tyre threads in this forum.
2nd hand OEM 17" are as common as hen's teeth.

That was quick.
Many thanks.
I have followed the lead for BBS and G.Max.
They are is a lot less expensive than $1100+ per LR orginal wheel.
Happy trails

Davo,
I was told by my dealer not to go a different diameter to the delivered one; as this would upset the DSC, Traction Control, etc. Others may have empirical knowledge that will over-rule this.

The dealer will always advise against changes to standard - that's what they do... there are however many people that are running non-standard sizes, as well as many other mod's, without issue.
Have fun!
cheers,
Simon

David,
I run slightly larger overall diameter tyres than the original Wranglers by 0.5" without any noticable problems with the D3 systems. Others have been running up to 1.5" larger than standard and they have not reported any problems.
If you are not sure don't take the Dealer's comments for gospel, ask on here and see what others think. There is a lot of knowledge on this Forum which is pretty accurate.

Chris,
Thanks. I thought as much. I was going to give the Coopers a go next change.

The car has to conform to the Australian Design Rules, which I think allow an increase in tyre diameter of 15mm over manufacturers fitment, so it must not affect the DSC etc or they couldn’t sell the car here.
If you use the 265/60R18 Coopers HP+ you will be within the law, which is my main concern. I do not want to give an insurance company any chance to wiggle out of any claim I may make.
As posted elsewhere in this forum there is a link to 17" Steel Rims at a cost of approx $125, I dont know what nuts are required, but it may well be standard Toyota nuts at 14x1.5mm threads. http://www.dynamictyres.com.au/html/s02_ar..._top_id=55

My dealer took the 18's off, put on 17's from an "S" model and fitted 265/70R17 BFG's for me at the time of delivery. He said they'd done a few like that and he didn't warn me about any issues with DSC, TC etc. D4: Expedition Rack, 104 Litre Long Range Tank, Raised Air Intake
