I don't understand this step:
Step 28
Jack up the car. Remove the wheel and make a notch in the hub nut using a flat chisel.

The half shaft has a gap in it. The new drive shaft nut that you WILL be using has a soft lip on it's outer edge, which you need to gently tap into the recess on the half shaft.
Very simple - it's just to stop the drive shaft nut from turning

Once tightened the hub nut has to be secured in place by 'pinning' it ie putting a dent in the rim to lock it in place, you can't get access to do this with the wheel on

Hmmm, if it's on stands, and you can't lower it easily, then avoid any lateral tugging as you don't want to pull it off the stands! Try undoing it with a big breaker bar & I use another one to lock the wheel studs against a spare axle stand. Be careful though if it's on stands! Really ought to be on the ground. Keep wheels in dead ahead position. As you can see from my avatar, I have the safety of a scissor lift as well. Really ought to be on ground to do this. I'd stick your jack under the lower ball joint too for added safety.
Assuming you've tapped out the little lip on the nut?
The nut is very tight. My breaker bar is 3 feet long!

Done as in step 2, with the disco on the ground.
Even used an old car jack to try and undo the bolt - but its just bent the breaker bar.
Yeah I have taken the little notch out as well as I can.

Think you need an impact driver next. Clarke do a really powerful electric one. I swear by it.

Make sure you put a new nut on at the end & tap the lip into the recess on the drive shaft to lock it. 230Nm now (lower torque to preserve the wheel bearings better).
