Fitted 2 sets to 3 Discos now, 1 to a D3 and other pair to 2 separate D4's, all the same fitting and pretty straight forward. Once the sills are cut out (marked on inside) its only a 30 min job per side

I liked the way the bar version bolts to the chassis, no need to remove the trim or cut drill anything.
Most importantly the kids love them

just found out that there is a Britpart agent quite close by me in SW London with choice of steps and bars that will cost under half that charged by main dealer. I have been assured by those above and the Britpart agent that they are easy to fit yourself so I am tempted to have a go. That said I have been known to cause a flood and drag a plumber out after cocking up the bleeding of a radiator So I will do my best to avoid a Norman Wisdom moment... . It might sound daft, but the door paint protection in car parks is uppermost in my mind.

Fitted rock/tree sliders to mine.
Primarily as it gets used off-road regurlarly but they also double as very effect sidesteps, they have an antislip surface on them. You get the best of both worlds as they are firstly designed as protection they don't break like sidesteps.
You also get the 'carpark ding' protection like the genuine sidestep.
Costs are comparible. I've never fitted sidesteps but the sliders were easy.Nick

Don't forget they provide no protection at all to rear doors hitting yours in car parks, kids are worst offenders and are often found in the back

I wouldn't have spec'd sidesteps but, they were already fitted to my new HSE Lux and now I have to say I'm a convert. They have made it so easy for my wee boy (4 next week) to get in and out and my wife finds them useful too. That said, I have already clattered my ankles on them twice ... which is pretty good going since I've only had the car since lunchtime yesterday! It'll take my ageing brain a wee while to reprogramme to having them on the side of the car... Disco 4 HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

SKEP,
I'm loving the black trim finish on your sidesteps. Was that how they came or was it done aftermarket?
Are they genuine LR parts?Disco 4 HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

Personally not a big fan - makes getting a pain if you are of normal height because you have to climb over them - wife complains it makes her clothes dirty.
Oddly enough the Dealer agreed they hated them
Look good on my old Sport but wouldn't have them on my D4 but I suspect this is all personal choice

+1 for side steps, makes belting the kids much easier, seat belting that is, how do you wash the massive sunroof without them, I use roof racks a lot so invaluable again, when youre on the Kodak trail they are great for snapping pics from!
I reckon the Disco looks more offroady with them, family grade tree sliders

they are the OEM sidesteps I just removed the aluminium strips and wrapped them with Matt Black vinyl, relatively easy to do, first one took about an hour the next about 45 mins. Need just enough heat but not too much. There's more details in the following thread.
