Hi All.
My 2006 Disco 3 is now reaching its 7th year, and have been told that this next service is a big one ($2100.00), new timing belt as well as a new tensioner. I thought that most Diesel motors, the belt is relplaced every 100,00km. my unit has 43,000km, should I do it, or has the belt/tensioner already been done on another service (all services have been every 6 months).
Thanks inadvance.
Regards

I doubt anything wrt the belt has been touched . NOTHING gets done that isn't paid for and listed on your invoice !
With very low useage engines , it's a case of perishing parts, rather than worn.
Get the belt inspected and ask to see the extent of stretch/tooth condition.
If you're ditching this in the next two years , forget it if the belt looks ok .

Seriously, once you take everything apart and get to the belt to inspect it, you might as well change it and the tensioners! It's only £50 for the belt and tensioner and then you can forget about it for another 7 years. Dennis

The service interval for BOTH cambelts (there are two not one), tensioners and bolts in Aust is 166,000km or 7 years. The serpentine belt is also changed.
At the km and age of your car none of this work would have previously been done.
Ensure your quote is for both belts not one.

Hi Rob,
6 months ago I did the belts based on time (7yrs) rather than kms (at 136k as of today).
Price seems a bit high.
I did do mine at Hobart Land Rover though I get fleet pricing which cost approx $1250 (inc. GST)
hope that helps somewhat ...
cheers,
