Auto box slipping - known fault? |
|
Hi Folks
I've a fault emerging where my auto TDV6 appears to be failing to engage gear, particularly on pull away from stationary, and the engine revs freely without providing propulsion.
It seems particularly bad when the car is cold, and usually engages several seconds after the throttle has been continuously depressed and is starting to reach 4000rpm. Although on occasion it works correctly and on other occasions I have to take it out of drive once or twice before I can get it to engage at all.
Dealer thinks a recall on a gear selector might fix it and should be applied.
Any other views?
regards

I had this problem last year, used to happen every time I reversed off the driveway and then went into drive on the auto box, the dealer did the TSB for the gear selector and I have not had a problem since. 1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold
