Engine or Transmission fault? |
|
Anyone else experienced a jerky moment in their D4? I've had two instances recently that lasted for a mile or so where the car feels that it's either jumping between gears or the power is cutting in and out, it's hard to identify the issue. On both occasions it's been at lowish speeds (40mph) after a 10 mile gentle run.

Gareth... mine was very definitely 'at speed'
The Hartwell's service manager lives just around the corner from me and when he dropped the D4 back after they did the throttle body, he admitted that they have a 'known problem' at 80 or so but that most people are to sheepish to admit their speed when complaining about the hesitation...

Happened to mine on the way home from work tonight, Jan 12 HSE 10,500 mls. Never done it before, also noticed a strange smell too, like burning, can't decide if it was like burnt rubber (fan belt type smell) or ATF fluid. Will see how I get on tomorrow.

@ Chief Stoker...
I would suspect that this is the DPF regenerating (burning off the old crap...) - you'll find you get a different exhaust note when this happens.
Smell of burning etc is quite disconcerting when it happens but I suspect nowt wrong all in all... D4 Commercial - 65 Plate, 2016MY

DPF of course, never thought of that
Done a couple of hundred miles since not stuttered again so guess its not a bug more a feature.
