Remember a D4 is just a facelifted D3. Definition of a facelift: new smiley face, new dash & the latest lump under the bonnet. Looked at the numbers for changing to a D4 but not worth the money for the new car smell. New car warranty is nice but not worth the extra wonga. You can get the D4 oomph with a remap.
Ducking for cover.

Before I bit the bullet and changed mine I seriously wanted to go back to a D3 as missed it and still do. Like Mickd4 it was my first
Thought about chopping the D4 in and getting D3 and Defenfer. If I'd have seen one at £17k I could have gone to the newer Tci engine on defender and still had change D4 HSE - Aintree Green
D4 Orkney my13 - gone
Stornaway D4. Gone, Didn't like it at all
D3 silver manual. Loved my first LR

Seriously, I would look at he one Gareth on here is selling ( or was yesterday). High spec and I think got reduced to £17k. As Character said, a LOT of D3 for your money and the belts (big service) have just been done.
Do a search on Author for Gareth and its a few threads down.
Good luck
PS - Welcome
+1 to that. That's a lot of D3 for the money !!
You will be waiting quite a while to get a decent D4 for the money you are looking to spend Cheers Ian

I bought my 2010 D4 GS for £25k from Stratstones in April last year. Still under LR warranty, FLRSH, 15k miles on the clock & one owner..... it was absolutely spotless until I got my hands on it.
I drove all the way to Sunderland & back in a day (9hrs driving!) as it was too good a price to miss.
Its a 2.7 (not 3.0) and manual ........ I don't think they come any more basic than that but as I was looking at 2008 D3's for the same price (granted higher spec models) I didn't stop to think for long.
I've had cruise control fitted (thanks to Geoff & TLO) but other than that I don't miss any of the toys.
They are out there but you have to look hard & react fast, good luck Nick
2010 D4 ....... now gone and replaced with a 05RRV Autobiography

Is this the D4 mentioned earlier in the thread?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rover-Disco...2578ecd30d
As above though, if your set on a Disco then get a good older one with less than 100k or lower miles and take out a warranty on it. WD and another one seem to be favoured on here so worth the money and a good saving over the D4's FFRR Owner, very nearly became a D3 owner
Test piloted a new D4 XS SDV6.. Gone and being forgotten i hope!!

Well, i went to see the vehicle. It's bodywork was sound, no rust a few swirls in paintwork etc but nothing that made it look dated at all which i was happy about. The interior was a little bit of a let down, the center storage mechanism was broken the steering wheel was badly (worn) and one of the rear seats had something wrong with it.
A lot of cosmetic niggles on the interior but nothing major. I tested the air suspension as suggested and checked the work that had been carried out. All LR parts and labour, the rear disks had been replaced but not the front ones. Rear tyres were new but the front ones were older (is this common?). Went for a test drive and it was 'smooth' Smile had no issues with the way it performed and the brakes were very responsive (like a new car really).
I told the dealer i would have a think about it and walked away without making an offer. I'm going to see another car this weekend...
I was definately go more prepared this time and actually print out a checklist etc and things to ask.
For anyone who wants it i thought i'd stick that in to help out FFRR Owner, very nearly became a D3 owner
