Have this same problem with our single axle Bailey Senator. But as this is our first van thought it was ok, not so sure now. I am booked on a C&CC manovering course in a couple of weeks so will ask the question and report back.

I have had twin axle caravans and the problem is normally keeping the nose weight dowm to about 100kg, not trying to raise it. That said, i did have a the tow ball connected to the upper pair of holes in the 05 MY year tow ball fitting plate and i never tried to raise the jockey wheel and see if the hitch would fall to the ground. Most caravan manufacturers state the optimum tow ball height. 2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.

I have a bailey unicorn series 2 Cartegena and when the caravan is empty the nose does not drop down even with the jockey wheel fully retracted. The caravan sits levels on just the wheels.

Ok mine is only a single axle but with the detachable tow bar it sits level

I think there is something wrong with my caravan as i am pretty sure that when unhitched and the jockey wheel full retracted the nose of the twin axle caravan should be on the floor, but this is not the case and the caravan sits level.
Could anyone confirm to me that if jockey is full retracted that the caravan nose should be on the floor on a twin axle caravan?

Have you got the battery and gas bottle(s) in at the front?
Have you checked there's nothing under the bed or in the wardrobe.
As others have said, I would expect the caravan to be nose heavy.

On the new Bailey S2 Caravans the gas bottles are over the axle and not in the front of caravan.
Battery is also near the axle.
I am having this issues also when the caravan is empty.

Depending on what baily you have, some modles have a fair bit of fixed kit at the rear, or set back from the center masss pivot point, but you all ways have a front end tip, nose weight on all modles, single or twin axel,
Not all twin will nose dive completley to the floor, depending on van/model/ loading, but no nose weight when towing is as bad as to much RRSport MY12hse but don't hold that against lill o me

Like you say, knowing if this is normal for this model of van to balance without aid of jockey wheel would give some answers.
If the gas bottle and battery are further back then it looks like the only weight at the front of the van is the 2 bench seats?
Is assume there is storage under these seats which would give nose weight.
Are there any other storage areas up front as all the weight seems to be at the back, shower etc
which would explain the lack of noseweight?

My Bailey Unicorn S2 Cartegena does not nose dive even slightly it just stays level with the jockey fully retracted (raised).

Al, I too tow with about 110 kg nose weight, with regard to the front dropping with the jockey wheel raised, my Peggy 646 empty with only the gas bottles in there front holder and battery in place drops to with in a nat's tit of the floor. To quote Baileys Tec department "most vans will lower to the floor with the jockey fully elevated when empty and require even loading for stability" there of course Will be exceptions to this.

Don't quote me but if I can recall
The guide lines for all vans is a nose weight of 5-7% of the caravans MTPLM, from the factory as new,

User payload should not be loaded as to put zero - weight on tow hitch RRSport MY12hse but don't hold that against lill o me

A new van will have a hand book, nose weights should be in there, bailys of old were about 80/85kg nose weight out of the factory, I guess hand book will say about the same... RRSport MY12hse but don't hold that against lill o me
