Advice on warranty please.

Hi folks

My D3 is out of LR warranty - as yet no new price to extend.

It's a 59 plate SE covering 48,000 miles.

The wife as her Monday to Friday I get it on he weekends to fuel and clean!

We do average 8 k a year.

Warranty direct have offered me the luxury care pack including all ICE & Sat nav cover etc.

The best quote so far is £675 per year.

Is that a good price?

Thanks

Askers

I had a similar quote from Warranty Direct. If you ask about their Lite policy the price will drop considerably. We were quoted £135 and the policy covers wear and tear and up to £200 p/h labour.
However you need to arrange your own AA or RAC cover as you must be towed to a garage to be able to claim...
The car must be serviced as per LR recommendations.
No claims as yet so only time will tell how good they are.

Thanks

Ill wait for them to ring me back - no doubt they'll be chasing my business.

Does your policy include the sat nav etc?

Cheers

I decided to forgo the warranty on my 09 and instead put the £100 a month in to premium bonds.

That will stay as a fund for fixing "stuff" and for every month nothing goes wrong the savings pile up and give me a chance of actually paying a return.

Admittedly first few months are a gamble but after that you should be quids in.

I like your thinking Smile

Something to consider over the next couple of weeks.

Someone else suggested it on here. Admittedly if the engine goes pop you're on to a loser but with a 2009 car and well maintained I'd suggest for me it is HIGHLY unlikely and if it did then I'd be going down the recon/2nd hand route which is more like £2k than £10k from what I gather.

If you keep the car well maintained the vast majority are fine and you'd have to be quite unlucky - most faults are reasonably easy fixed by the independent experts on here at a reasonable price and that leaves standard servicing at dealers to keep the stamps if you are so inclined.

Sitting pretty with £1200-2000 in premium bonds would make me much happier than knowing it went to a warranty co and I didn't use it - likewise claims are often expensive because of the main dealer prices. Go indie, get it done just as well or better at a fraction of the cost.

More efficient all round and it keeps the support network live and kicking Thumbs Up

I should have said we pay £135 per annum plus the cost of AA cover at £90 pa.

The only question is whether WD will pay up after a claim but I have heard they are OK.

Spinney,
what sort of cover do you get for your £135 a year?

Cover depends on the age of the vehicle.

We have the Extracover for cars up to 8 yrs old.

Have a look here: http://www.warrantydirect.co.uk/policyword...ection=bri
