jamo,

I have had recently fitted the kaymar bar with dual wheel carrier, and long range fuel tank.

with both tanks filled the rear wheels with the independant rear suspension sit out a bit, ie toe out.

Did you after installation, have to alter the wheel alingnment to compensate?

Does the anglre change with a bit of a drive?

Kenso,

it is HSE, and I have notice when both tanks are fill, the top outside of the wheels are in and the bottom outside are futher out than the top, so it does not look like it is tracking evenly. I am concerned for long term wear and tear on the tyres.

and when more gear is in the back, eg water, fridge it slightly more pronouced.

Just to clarify TRM's statement about "wheels in at the top and out at the bottom" is not toe out but negative camber.

My understanding is that the air suspension should level the D3 out and this should raise the rear if it is lower than normal.

After fitting the ARB BB and winch with steel cable which is probably 70kg hanging off the front made the front of my D3 "sag" until the air suspension lifted the front and levelled the D3.

chris, thanks for the feedback. It noticeable when parked, and even if I leave it running, and stand behind looking square on, at normal height, but of course the vehicle is stationary.

I have no idea what it is like running along the road, whether the suspension self corrects.

it is due for a wheel alingnment check, I see what the tyre fitter says.

I raised it, to see if others noticed the same on their vehicles with similar modifications.

This doesn't sound good.

Wheel angle should only be a function of ride height. If the are 10 or 1000 KG in the back the distance from wheel to arch should be the same, if the suspension is leveling. So the camber should not change.

For the camber to change as the load changes, but essentially the ride height is the same, then something has to be bending. Which isn't good.

I've not studied the rear geometry in that much detail, but I can't see any other explanation. Unless the self leveling isn't spot on? Try measuring the gap between the wheel centre and the arch with different loads. This will tell you if the leveling is working.

Cheers, Steve

trm,

that's the suspension problem known as 'uneven tyre wear'. There are two TSB's. I'll look them up and get back to you. It has nothing to do with the accessories (so don't let your dealer try and say that it has!)

The tank won't affect. The D3 can take up to about 800kg load so the 120kg tank and fuel shouldn't do that.

I had the same problem and had it fixed under warranty.

Your tyre dude won't be able to fix the problem as one of the TSB's puts the car into the correct mode (5+ hours of software manipulation). Shocked

Watch this space! Very Happy
 Have a nice day!
