UK insurance for D4 with temp. seat conversion? |
|
Hi guys
I'm about to bite the bullet and order a D4, which will then be taken to a popular UK company* for fitting with temporary, certified van seats in the load area.
Before I make the purchase, the dealer has recommended that I speak to a couple of insurance companies to make sure everything is kosher, specifically with the Certificate of Conformity and accidental death liability.
To be honest, as soon as the dealer mentioned "death" I got quite concerned, and have held off with the sale until I can be sure everything will be ok.
So, can anyone with a D4 rear-seat conversion recommend some insurance companies I should be speaking to regarding this? If you're not able to post here, feel free to PM me.
Thanks guys!
* not sure if I'd be violating the rules by naming them. Begins with an "A", ends in "tech", anyway.

Atlantech fitted mine in both this Commercial and the previous one as well as another one that has now left the fleet.
All insurance is through our company fleet policy - our Office Manager simply sent them the certificate of conformity and it was simply noted.
Appreciate that this may not be lots of help but am sure that you will be able to insure the vehicle within 'normal' terms D4 Commercial - 65 Plate, 2016MY
D5 Commercial - Handed back when I left that job…
D4 Commercial (2014MY) - gone
D4 Commercial SDV6 - Baltic Blue (also gone)
D1 300TDi... 2" lift, HD bumpers (both), detachable tow hitch, 9,500lb winch, 235/85/16 muds and plenty of other toys (gone to make way for the next toy...)
Smiles per Mile - Tornado Motorsports caged Evo 3... 100" Defender look-alike, with Range Rover running gear - all fully IVA'd and registered!

As above, we just informed the NFU we had fitted them and sent off the certificate (from Atlantech).
No nasty questions asked

I'm sorry to have to say that it will happen at some point whether you buy or not 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I do not understand this. Have JLR stopped fitting the third row seats in D4? A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.
