[Wanted] Chassis bolts for multi height tow bar & other bits

Hi all, I have only just found this site and I am a complete newbie so go easy on me.

I have just bought a Land Rover multi height fixed tow bar to replace my original swan neck removable tow bar on my Discovery 4, but it arrived without the chassis bolts, so is there a good replacement for these available? I presume I could bodge this with some M14 bolts and a spacer but would prefer to do it properly if possible . I appreciate that this may have been asked many times before but couldn't find any current information when I searched.

I am also after a few other bits, extended roof rails, rear seatbelt buckle, seatcovers etc but the tow bar is the main thing at the moment as I need to tow a large trailer and have heard that the swan neck removable is not up to the job long term.

Thanks in advance

I had the same problem!
The chassis bolts aren’t available separately but do come in the full tow bar bolt kit, part number LR007485
I got some off here via a wanted ad, you could give that a go for the stuff you need.

Is it these little rascals.....

I'm in the midst of swapping stuff from the old car to the new and will be refitted the tow bar this weekend.
Presumably these are quite a convoluted piece of engineering so as to evenly distribute the dynamic trailer loads to the chassis rails and to prevent distortion when tightening the bolts up (????)

Or, as per the original post, would a nice HD m14 threaded bar be up to the job Whistle

Well in theory yes, a piece of threaded bar and spacer would do it, but...
Would it meet EC94/20 tow bar Type Approval and be fitted as per the manufacturer instructions?
I wouldn’t risk it personally, could be trouble if there was an accident.

Try these they manufacture and install tow bars make front mount bars if you speak to them they should be able to supply suitable bolts and spacers. As they would know the specification of the bolts and nuts so you would get the correct ones. Thumbs Up

How is the middle tube put and held in place while it is tightened up? How is it extracted from the chassis ? Is there anything connected to the tube inside the chassis?
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Threaded bar is not a high strength material , I wouldn't trust it in this application. A correct length minimum grade 8.8 bolt and a spacer would I would think be acceptable . Unfortunately the law requires Type approved tow bars to be fitted to our vehicles and I can see an insurance get out if not correctly installed. Commercial vehicles ( N1) towing bar type approval came in only relatively recently

Just fitted a tow trust bar, they have 10.9 grade bolts for chassis.

it's not a simply tube ... female threaded tube at one end and male threaded section at other end.

not done it myself but guessing the hole at one side accepts the tube and big washer covers the big hole.

shove it in, put nut on other end and it can't then fall into the chassis.

there is no reason a suitable HT bolt and a section of tube wouldn't be as good but PROVING that is another thing.

I haven’t a set spare unfortunately, the ones I got off here I needed for my tow bar. In all honesty if I needed another set I’d probably just buy the complete LR007485 set for about £40 Thumbs Up

Mine are just tubes, slip on bolt and fit through keyhole shape hole in outer side of chassis then fed through inner chassis hole.
