Having just recently bought my first D3 I wanted it covered by a warranty. Thanks to this forum I opted for WD and got an online quote for £870. I didn't buy it and left it. A couple of days later they rang me and after a bit of friendly banter I got a new quote of £685 and an upgrade to Luxury Cover.
The guy I spoke to was quite open and stated that the online quote is basically a generic quote. He said if contacted direct they will always come up with an individual quote.

Having a bit of discussion with WD at the moment...
Two weeks ago got orange "Check Engine" light and no power below 2.5k revs. You guessed - EGR problem.
The LR garage (Lancaster in Reading) said that both EGRs open and not closing at all, so need to be changed.
Great, methinks, will get this sorted in no time, with only £50 excess to pay.
No, no, no WD says. This are two failures and two claims so my excess is going to be £100
Are they taking the pi ???
This way they can split any failure down to single nut and not pay anything. Or any other multiple item fails eg. injectors then again they split that into 6(!!!) claims???
I thought that they knew that car they give warranty for has two EGRs etc, hence the premium is higher etc.D3 XS Manual - gone

Warranty Direct independent or worth stumping the extra
Hi I have just got my mits on an 05 disco3 and I now need a warranty. I think I will go with Warranty Direct but was wondering if anyone had opinions on whether to just go for independent dealer cover or stump up the extra for franchised dealer cover? I live between sheffield and chesterfield and was wondering if anyone could recommend good garages for the seemingly inevitable automotive mental breakdown that will be coming my way? Thanks

I've got main stealer cover, try haggling that in. Try the "I can only afford indi rate but would love the luxury of main dealers, the othe lot do that" line.

warranties
my main dealer cover runs out end of july been very handy, new fuel pump and rear arb,s,gets a wash etc when it comes out and swmbo gets a nice bunch of flowers (guy salmon maidstone )the problem is i am told the extended landrover warranty is via car care,i had a bad experience with this mob so am thinking of warranty direct as with their top policy they cover wear and tear(egr,s and epb inc).they also seem to be getting good reports on the site.
sandys/steel side tubes, door trims with bright inlay, front and rear light guards, half chrome mirror caps, mud flaps, chrome finishers on boot and rear bumper step, chrome finishers round gear shift and cup holders, chrome door handle covers.d/4 grille conversion, chrome foglamp bezzells, parrot bluetooth.***sadly missed**********

warranty Direct Cover update!!
I phoned up Warranty direct today after being given an online quote for franchised dealer cover of £804. This was for their secure care level of cover.
after a brief conversation they dropped the price to £683!! also upped my cover to extracare level, increased my cover from 12 to 13 months! When I still didn't seem convinced they waived the 3 month wear and tear waiting time and increased alowable mileage from 12k to 24k per annum and threw in airbags and emmisions cover!

No betterment?
Can someone explain the no betterment concept for me please? It was explained by the sales guy but they didn't mention it as an option though. Cheers
