It's coming to the point where man maths is no longer protecting my ownership of the D4 and I am having to make some serious choices. One of these is having to sell the D4 and get a replacement, spurred by a recent £3k+ bill for a repair. I'm not sure what to sell it for, though - valuations I've seen online haven't been as high as some of the prices charged on here.
What's the best way to get a realistic valuation for my car?

Thats assuming the prices on here ae-re what they are selling for !! the message is clearly going down and those are dropping quicker than you think . You answered it yourself in your message the price of repair against it is no longer viable for many.
Never a truer word than a car is worth what somebody will give you for it .

Well, time to smell the coffee… lets start with ‘what would you pay for the vehicle.’
You are not going to like the answer. 2015 LR4 HSE Lux Aintree Green
2013 LR2 HSE Radiance Red
2007 XKR Jaguar Racing Green
2005 XJR Jaguar Racing Green
2002 S-Type R British Racing Green

I bought (another) D4 on Tuesday this week. I had been watching it on Autotrader for a couple of weeks - it started off at £22,500k and I ended up getting it for £17k. Even at that I probably paid a premium 'cos it is LEZ compliant on a '65 plate and is very tidy. I had looked at lots of 2020/11 vehicles prevously that were selling for around £8k
That said, I also looked at some at a small specialist dealer near Telford - they had sold 14 D4s in the past 15 days! Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE
Previously:
TD5 Defender 110 CSW (230k miles)
300TDi Disco 1 (289k)
4 RR Classics (300-350k each, 2 manual, 2 auto)
110 V8 CSW (220k)
S3 109 hi cap pickup (ex RN)
S2A 88 Safari SW with lpg conversion (bloody lethal)
