I noticed on the Sale & Wanted section that the D4 will not accept a standard 18" wheel due to the increase in brake size. I was hoping to make a transition to a D4 in due course & had planned to take my 18" winter wheels with me. No doubt a number of D3 owners are planning the switch at some point but do we know what D3 wheels will also fit a D4?

I am staggered that a D4 does not take an 18" wheel - just how big are the new brakes!?

I am looking for 17" wheels for my Discovery 3. I would use them to put mud tires on.

i have found wheels from a recent Free-Lander and would like to know if they would fit ?

Freelander (1 or 2) wheels do not fit, the bolt hole configuration is different.

D3/4/RRS is 5x120 (5 bolts with their centres on a 120mm circle)
Fl2 is 5x108
Freelander 1 is 5x114.35

I stupidly just bought a set of the 18" rr wheels pictured first on the list at the start of the thread. Other than the wheel nuts are different is there any other problems with the fitting? Wil these wheels fit with rr wheel nuts?
I bought them from eBay which stated in the advert they fitted a D 3. They came from a 2005 rr hse model allegedly Big Cry Embarassed Should have come here first me thinks..

Just bought these

Hi folks

Just bought a new set of 19" rims and tyres that I thought were late Disco 3 or Disco 4, they are the ones in my gallery. The load rating is right and I'm sure I've seen them on Discos on the forecourt of the dealer...anyway looks like I might have bought RR ones instead as they fouled the front brake caliper ever so slightly.

I was thinking of adding a 5mm shim for clearance, any thoughts as to whether this is a good idea or not. Also if I add the shims will the studs stick out far enough to get the nuts on or should I go for the expensive 30mm wheel spacers with their own nuts?

PS I can't take them back as I bought them in Birmingham on a day out....doh!

Thanks

Just a quick note for you chaps looking at FFRR wheels, if you look between the bolt holes you will find either a dimple or a hole... If they have small holes they are early (pre <06>) wheels (Jag fitment) and post 06> wheels take the larger wheelnuts (the same as the D3)

Hope that helps Wink

Sounds like RRS (not a real RR inspite of the badges) HSE alloys, straight fit on a D3. Thumbs Up
