The Yanks have used the short version for many years and it is their accepted spelling. Both spellings have been used since the beginning even though it's really only the Yanks and the Canadians that use the short form these days. Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

To add to that last one, whilst you are on hold and the stupid message keeps telling you “we are doing everything we can to answer your call”, no your not because that would mean you hiring more staff to answer calls quicker.

I agree with Hugh regarding "enjoy!" when being served food.
