The Discovery 3 was launched with a new electronic off-road aid, Terrain Response.

There are five terrain settings in the Discovery 3:

  • Standard (General Driving)
  • Grass/Gravel/Snow (Slippery Conditions)
  • Mud & Ruts
  • Sand
  • Rock Crawl

A rotary dial on the centre console allows the driver to select the required driving mode, and Terrain Response then automatically selects the most appropriate settings for the vehicle's electronic controls and traction aids. The yellow button shown allows control over the Hill Descent Control system.
