Radio displayes low power mode
Quick Question
Go up to car, open with remote, take something out, close door again and lock with remote. How long should radio and satnav screens remain on. Mine stayes on for over 10 minites, is this normal.
PS, every now and then the radio displayes low power mode. I am afraid I may get flat battrie.
Can't help on the sat-nav, but the 'Low power mode" only appears if the ignition is off and the volume is over 15.Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

I might be missing something here, but in this case, the radio shouldn't be on in the first place.
It should ONLY be on if you have the key into the ignition or if you physically turn it on after you've unlocked the doors and entered the car. In the latter case, if you have the volume too high, you'll get the Low Power message.2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG

Don't worry...you were clear....I just didn't read your post properly
It's definitely not normal.....the time should stay displayed on the radio screen, but the actual backlights on the screens should go out immediately I think. 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG

If I turn on ignition then turn it of again, all screens turn of as normal. Its just if I open with remote, open door, then lock with remote again, the screens remain on. As this is a commercial van, I can be in at out of the car 20 times a day. This will flatten the battrie I would think.. Would be a bit of a pain, if every time I get something from the car, I have to turn on ignition.

Both my screens stay lit up under those circs. for several minutes, but not 10, I think. I know it happens to a friend's HSE because it informed me he had not long left his vehicle (at the roadhead, heading off into the hills), but again no exact timing.

Maybe it's like the seatbelt ding defeat thing - if you unlock, enter, exit and lock up 9 times within a minute, maybe the car will beep and stop doing it !!

Think I will have to go out and play with mine . Get some exact times and that. Radio is the Harmon Kardin. With satnav.
My R & Satnav light up as soon as I press remote unlock button, without opening any doors. I Think this is normal, just seems to stay on for to long, does not seem to have mutch reason for it.

Hi Rab,
As per WillMyth, I went outside and 'played with mine' a bit this morning.....I didn't have any problems at all....
I too have the cheap-ass stereo CD-400, so maybe this is a thing with the HK system?
I hope you get it fixed.....I've had a few cars that were prone to draining batteries for no apparent reason and it's a bit worrying not knowing if you're going to get it to work or not...

I think it is working as normal, as I said last post, seems kinda stupid to be on for no reason for so long. If you park in a city or somewhere busy, it would bring unwanted attention to empty car, worse at night, with whole internal car lite up.
Just wanna make sure, with all you experts.

Hi RMB,
Mine has always done this. I just assumed it was normal. It is as you say not good at night parked up with the interior lit up.
