So after a few months of Disco 4 ownership (and 2 weeks driving a Disco 5 whilst mine was in the garage!) , i've got a few queries
First is the memory seats, i have all 3 buttons programmed to one position as i have a habit of touching them as i get out and i'm the only one who drives it , but when i turn the ignition on/off the seat moves back as if to an access position, is there a way to stop this as i don't want to wear the motor out.
Second is a faint whistle from the drivers window, dependant on wind direction. Dealer couldn't find this when i raised it but it's definitely noticeable, any ideas?
Third is the dreaded heating, I have it set at 21 Degrees 90% of the time , I can get into it with the outside temperature reading 18 Degrees on day 1 and it'll blow cold air, and on day 2 it'll blow hot! Am i best just setting it all to manual control?
I obviously bought Land-Rover for reliability right?

It would help if you completed your profile so we know exactly which model of car you have.
The memory seats are designed to move to give greater ease of access but this can be turned off on the left side of the steering column by turn the column adjustment from Auto to off/manual. .

Heating should be a bit more consistent, ISTR, but there have been some service notices on heating and software updates - probably depends on VIN range... Sill protection - LED internal lights - LED reverse lights - boot liner - Dog Guard - Rock sliders

On the D3 its called lazy entry and should be listed in your manual as such, but as said above can be turned off via the stalk.

The heating thing...
It may well be set to 21 degrees and the outside temperature may be 18 degrees, but the heating will alter the temperature to suit you INSIDE the car. So whilst it'll be 18 degrees outside, inside it may be 24 degrees, hence the car will cool things down to 21 degrees. so disregard the outside temperature reading for that purpose. Geddit?

I would say 21 is a bit low for a D4 in summer. Mine is a 2013 so supposedly unaffected by the later cars erratic heating. Normally mine is set at 23 regardless of what's going on outside. Sometimes it will cool the car down, sometimes it will warm it up.
I have a cheap plug in temperature gauge and volt meter, that lives in the accessory socket on the console. It usually has the internal temperature recorded as a couple of degrees higher than the set temp on the heater controls. The system does work, because the thermometer will climb and fall in proportion to the temp I set on the system. It's a big interior so it takes about 5 minutes to change the actual temperature.
Yesterday, we were driving back from Hereford to Stockport, and it was a pleasant day, the oat was about 22 on the dash. The car was set to 23, and the interior temp was around 25-27 degrees. So the face vents were blowing cool air. If it gets too much ( and swmbo does often complain) I just override the fan and turn it down to to position 1. That usually stops it blasting in the face. You can also try manually pressing all 3 of the distribution buttons to make the air come out of all vents, including foot and windscreen.
It's not a perfect system, but when it's managed, it works pretty well.
