D4 renewal
Our D4 was acquired last Summer and wife's policy amended accordingly. The annual renewal is now approaching and Zenith has politely declined to offer a renewal.
So, Go.Compare ... wife gets a quote of about £465/yr based on Social use only for up to 3kmiles with 9 yrs NCB with Hastings; Excess ~£395 (£100 voluntary). Policy would be in her name with myself as a named driver. No convictions.
Just run it through Go.Compare today as me with her as named driver, but ZERO NCB since my NCB is already used on another vehicle and the quote is £446; excess £295 (£100 voluntary).

Big apologises in missing this , indeed I would push for the update , maybe print out some insurance quotes where they’ve either refused or very high quotes in order to push them to do the update seeinf it’s in for a service
Plse let us know how u get on , see there also investigating in sea ports , also still concerned about the key being able to be sent via the post from just a vin number , wondering it it’s worth covering them as an extra precaution
At the end of the day I dread to think what the cost of new keys will be as I would assume after the software update the BCM will have to be removed to add further keys

Daughter today bought a Velar Jan 2023 Model and that too has had an update security wise. The sales director stated that If an owner now looses a key Its over £500 for the new key and programming plus the BCM has to be replaced at a cost of £1500, so £2K to replace a key.
Insurance is still an issue, her current Evoque cost just over £500 annually, with 6 months to renewal an extra £700 had to be paid for the Velar and a new policy is £2K but hopefully by renewal time the action JLR has taken will have fed through and premiums will drop. (Age 31, full NCB and in a good postcode)
She just loves the car so not deterred by the recent issues or the fact JLR may not be around too long if a turnaround doesn't come soon.

Lol.....I don't love a car enough to pay £2k insurance...... indeed when I bought my motorbike recently I bought the older model as the insurance was £200 vs £500

Dont even look at learner drivers.
Our eldest is coming up for 17 so swmbo asked how much to add him onto her car with a provisional licence. Her policy runs out in May and they wanted £290 till then. They also offered her another service which can be renewed every 45 days for £360. Bargain
Might be cheaper for her to cancel her policy and take out another with someone else that will add him. Dreading him passing his test and the cost. Today is the oldest you've been and the youngest you'll ever be again.

Look into taking out a learners policy in his own name with you and your wife named on it and he will start earning NCB right away. I did this with my second daughter a couple of years ago think it was about £350 on a VW Up and it made a big difference having 1 years NCB at 18 years old.

I renewed SWMBOs car insurance last night. She was with Tesco at £200 last year. They wanted £370 this year. A phone call reduced it to £300, but we went with Sheila’s Wheels - part of the Esure Group, via Topcashback - so we get £42 from them and the premium was lower £250, with a total excess of just £50.
It’s just a PITA checking comparison sites.

I was just about to say that, as just put our son through the test and got a learner policy from Adrian Flux which was in his name and cost just over £200 for the year. Although he only needed it for 4 months before he passed However now trying to get him insured is another story.....well done son, you passed your test ..now you cannot drive at all till you are 25 years plus

Friends have just gone through this with their 17yr old (birthday end of Feb).... new lease BMW 1 Series and 3k+ a year on insurance, limited miles and a black box.
Being a lease car, I can only see it being in the Dad's name. The 17yr old is at College

we found admiral and a multicar policy was best for just passed the test at a young age. Was a few years ago now, but worth trying, maybe swap another car onto it as wellJoined the BMWX5 45e group

Didn't realise you could have 2 insurance policies on the same vehicle. I wanted to borrow a mates vehicle and couldn't get it insured so I gave up

You cant double insure....you insure for loss but you shouldn't profit from it.

My daughter's 2009 D3 was £1800 to insure her at 17 fully comp and was just an extension of her learner policy (£1350 uplift). She's now 19 and it's £4000 Her VW UP! Beats was £450 for the year as a learner.
23 yo daughter, paediatric nurse, has a 2018 Discovery Sport. £1100 when she got it two half years ago now £2400.
My 2007 Renault Master camper conversion was £686 last year, renewed today at £437.
My Defender was £1300 when I got it in Oct 22, now £2600.
SWMBO's T-Cross has remained £280 for the past four years and didn't change when she upgraded it for a new higher spec one.

My 2015 HSE Luxury was £569 with LV last year. Their new quote has gone up to £794.
Went onto Moneysupermarket and found another 5 star policy with Aviva for £504
