Parking sensors driving me mad again !
My parking sensors are playing me up rotten, all 4 front sensors are new of only 6 months, all 4 rears are new as of today, i purchased all 8 at the same time,
my parking button is flashing and a single long tone comes from the rear when i start the car up,
I've inspected the rear loom in the rear bumper today to the point of totally removing it from the bumper and inspecting it, inch by inch, cant see any damage to the wires of connections, and fitted 4 new sensors today,
so ive done the sensor cheek and put my ear to all the sensors and there is no clicking coming from any of the front or rear sensors, that is how i found my faulty sensor the 1st time round,
there is no error message on the cars display,
ive inspected fuse number 36 (5a) and that is fine,
is there any way of finding out if the parking sensor control module is faulty by plugging it into a code reader and if so, does anyone in my location have one that i can get to use please ?
anyone ?

Had it into Land Rover today, they say that one or both looms are busted, I've had the multi meter out on them today and I'm getting resistance on one of the feed back brown wire, so Monday it's a bumper off again job for an inspection and maybe an order for a new rear wire loom,

Probably one loom not both.
If brown is shorted to earth/black that is the problem.

Changed the rear parking loom and 4 new sensors and still no change, So I've got a new loom for the front from LR and i know the front 4 sensors are new too, so i will be digging it out on monday to see how we get on, Ive also got to change the front washer bottle as its leaking when you fill it over half full,
oh the joys !

Check continuity to the connector below the headlamp from the PDC sensor.
Probably a break in the wire.
There is a 12v supply (brown) and an earth (black) to each sensor and a 'data' return from each sensor.
If a parking aid system fault has occurred, the parking
aid module will relay the occurrence of the fault to the
driver in the following ways:
• The status LED will flash at a frequency of 2Hz if
the system is active and fault is detected in the
sensors, sounders, related wiring or the module.
• The front sounder will emit an error tone for 3
seconds at a frequency of 1500Hz if a fault is
detected with the front sensors or the rear sounder
develops a fault.
• The rear sounder will emit an error tone for 3 seconds
at a frequency of 1500Hz if a fault is detected with
the rear sensors, the switch, the LED in the switch
or if there is a CAN bus error.

As an aside UtilityGuy..... I had the washer bottle leaking when about half full or more.....it was not the bottle itself leaking, but the rubber grommet, where the level sensor fits into it. I put some silicone grease on it and refitted the sensor, and it has been ok for 3 yrs or so.( I made a mental note to replace the grommet if I ever have to go near it again). It can be got at by removing the N/S front wheelarch liner. Well i had the front bumper off again today, im getting good at getting it off as i know where all the screws and torq bolts are now,
the front wire loom was a bit iffy, very stiff and brittle feeling, so ive replaced it with a new one,
once the new one was fitted, it started to show me some more info about my front sensors, one of the inners was stuffed, even though its only 6 months old, so it got replaced,
The good news is my parking sensors are all working again, for now, and my my washer bottle was pulled out and i found a crack along the seem weld, so i replaced that too with one i found on ebay,
no water leaks and no bumping into other peoples cars or garden walls for now,

yer sure, my only advise would be to buy some now plastic push in clip things, as they get chewed up and bit upon removing them, new ones go back in so much easier and nicer, get about 15 of them,
Ive got the rear bumper off in about 15 mins now and the same for the front !

Hi all
could anyone enlighten me as to where the relay is for the PDC system? Cant see it on either fuse board
Would it be within the PDC module itself?
I'm able to get rear sensors working with the PDC switch reset (turn off then press on for 20seconds or so) but fails again after a couple of days.
IID tool fault reading shows that this reset forces relay 'stuck open'... Im pretty sure when fails it shows 'relay stuck closed'
Other than above, when i connect front loom I only get fault - 'short to ground' on both front & rear
Both front and rear looms have been replaced - same issue
A pointer on the pdc relay location would be appreciated
Thanks
Steve
