Epb not working.
Can anyone help me please, I have fixed (ha ha) the epb. However when I activate the handbrake it goes on then immediately off. I stripped it all down inc shoes and reassembled, did all the recommended adjustments but the handbrake will not remain on. I have a red P flashing on the dash. Its got me totally baffled.
I am in the process of putting this D3 manual fitted with factory coils, back on the road but without a handbrake I can't.

Assuming you opened up the actuator, did you reconnect the force sensor? can you read the DTC's, that would help narrow it down.

I replaced the cogs then connected the cables, I don't know about the force sensor.

In that case, it sounds like the two cables are not latching together - have you tried holding the switch up for >10 seconds?, if that doesn't work, you may have to slacken off the adjustment at the wheels to allow them to latch, then adjust.
The force sensor is connected to the module by a flexible PCB with three tracks on it and a white(?) connector. Either condition would cause the motor to cycle as no 'force' would be sensed.

No canbus connection maybe ?
If you can’t read ta fault codes that would prove it

There'd be a myriad of 'lost comms' in other modules and 'no comms' to the EPB if that were the case, besides, the switch is hardwired to the EPB so will command it directly even if CAN communication were lost.

Yes I did connect the ribbon lead. As for reducing tension on the cables I have wound the adjuster back 8 clicks then 9 etc all the way to no adjustment at all but it made no difference. In the off position the o/s cable is nearly touching the module case, is that normal? I have also cleaned the terminals on the connecting plug.

The one sure way to check they're latched is to pull / push one of the cables, the other should move in the opposite direction.
TBH, I rebuilt a EPB with new gears a while ago, it took a while to get the two cables latched, another one needed someone on each cable pushing them into the EPB before they'd latch.
Another thought, is the release cable free to operate? it might have jumped out of the guide and be trapped, holding the latch open....

I shall check the release cable. I thought I had latched the o/s cable but will also check.

If the locking ring is missing, the brake cable will be 10 mm longer. Or 20 mm if both rings are off. The full EPB will not work.
BTW: Inside the force sensor.

I do have the E clips on the cables, I also checked electrical connections they seem ok. I tried the lever up for 10sec and that put the orange P on the dash along with the red P. I have just read the fault codes with gap and I got the following code
