Good luck with it then CIO.
But I don't need to tell you, because of the sparsity of the rack structure, you will need to be spending an awful lot more cash to get it to a usable level.
Keep us posted please.

Thanks!
I'm waiting on a quote for rack & ladder -vat +shipping.
When (if?) I get it, I'll post pictures. There will apparently be panels released to fill in the gaps in the structure., so I'm still hoping to get my "safari roof" for the summer months.Chris

Looking at a few of these racks, of different makes etc, I'm surprised that they're not just a tiny bit wider. It would only take a few extra centimetres for the rack to fit a standard 8x4 sheet if timber.
I suppose the timber can overhang, but being able to ratchet a few standard sheets to the roof would be a plus for me.2022 BMW i4 M50. Bought Oct 2022. 10,200 miles and counting...

I asked James why it wasn't wider than the roof rails and he said that they couldn't make the wind fairing effective it it was.
I need to mount an "en-suite" shower / toilet awning. So the mountings will need to stick out so that the back of the "cubicle" doesn't drape too much on the side of the car.Chris

This one fits the bill nicely. Wider and longer. Anyone here have any experience of it?2022 BMW i4 M50. Bought Oct 2022. 10,200 miles and counting...

Similar in style to both the Big Country & Patriot offerings, both were quieter than the FR prior to fairing becoming available (fore/aft load bed makes a difference).
Not used one but have seen issues with finish.Paul.

They all have issues with finish.
My FR rack has had a few warranty claims for corrosion on bits.
My Prospeed lander was a rusty mess after 3 years on the car.
Every weld has bubbled up badly and the coating was peeling off.
For the price we get charged by all of the companies, itβs a sad joke for how short a time they last before looking scabby.
The Disco 3/4 scene tax compared to other models is annoying for what you get.

If you use good material, you don't have rust problems
All Out-Rack brackets and accessories are in stainless steel or aluminium and its powder coating is Anti-UV

Well this was the state of the aluminium parts off my rack after 18 months.
These were the replacement parts for the originals that had gone the same way.
The 3rd lot are also starting to go the same.
This one fits the bill nicely. Wider and longer. Anyone here have any experience of it?
That BritPart rack looks to be using the same aluminum profile of this eBay platform https://www.ebay.com/itm/284993237321β98 DI

1st Prospeed had issues, 2nd one didn't, have only Raptored it due to damage caused to paint during use. Obs aware of your issues have a Fr to go onto the 90 (if it ever returns) which is aged but in fair condition.Paul.

CIO, did you get a roof rack in the end? I, like you was after the Prospeed MK1 and am equally disappointed with their MK2 offering.
The terrafirma would be the next best looking/fitting rack as noted before but what was the general consensus, that terrafirma are a bit hot or miss?

DJEwen, nope the racks still aren't shipping. Last update was on the 16th March to say that they are still having issues with the fitment of the feet and are waiting on another batch to be made up and powdercoated. Estimated delay was two to three weeks fom the date of the mail. James @ Prospeed has been quite honest about the cause of the delays and I respect them for aiming for perfection.
I think terrafirma stuff is generally not as good close up as it looks from a distance. I think the issue pointed out with the terrafirma rack is theres no attachment points. You would need to ratchet strap / tie things to it. That rules out easy fitting of many accessories.Chris

Dave, just to correct to avoid any confusion.
Prospeed MkI had a composite then mesh floor, additional cross bars (XRS) required to mount kit.
MkII had the threaded bars as part of the frame, flooring panels additional.
MkIII is the new one.
See my earlier comment on 1st page re Terrafirma & Safety Designs offerings. πPaul.
