Land Rover warranty
I’ve got my LR named warranty invite today.
Last year Extended with Assistance was £1,142.
This year it’s £1,440.
A rise of roughly 26%.
What can you do? It’s too much of a risk not to have it.

Yep, I had a nearside wheel bearing replaced under the warranty a couple of months back. I asked if I had been paying how much it would have cost. They said £700, which I found just a bit on the high side, but who knows?

my brother has just had his 2016 LR Approved Disco Sport in to LR for its last major service under the service package he bought with it.
They did the service items and then quoted him £2500 for other 'failed' items on the car. His 2nd year extended warranty (non LR branded) ran out last August. Thankfully he told them to stick it and took the car to a local indy who quoted under £1000 for the work using genuine parts.
Cant see me ever going back to a LR these days with how badly they treat customers2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

My D4 is 10 years old and I looked around for warranty choices as I knew that at 10 years old or 100,000 miles i could not renew the extended warranty, which I must say as been piece of mind ,my brother as is rrs with ww and it proved useless he said when is manifold cracked, so at £27 a week I called extended warranty and they let me renew my policy in December as the car was under the threshold so my warranty expired on the 31st of March and dropped down to the select warranty until end of next march, all in all piece of mind,

My D4 is just 10 years old and has covered 69,000 miles. Had it from 12m and 5000 miles.
I’ve always had the select extended warranty without assistance, as I’ve got this with green flag via the caravan club.
Last year price was £792. Just had imitation to renew on 8th November, new price on the same basis £1344. That’s an increase of 70%.!!
I’ve used it once during the last 12 months but it has no no claims anyway so shouldn’t affect it.
That’s a ridiculous amount so it will expire and I’ll have to either change the car or put £80 pm on one side and cross my fingers. I suppose they know it’s getting to the age/mileage when things will start to go wrong. Over the years it’s been really reliable needing only, a new starter motor, two front arms, an air flow meter and recently a gear selector module ( the only time it’s stranded me)

Got to admit I've always been conflicted about the benefits of taking out an extended warranty. It might be peace of mind to spend £500 or £1000 a year and know for sure that's the maximum you'll be paying, rather than being faced with the cost of a £3k or £5k hit or more for a gearbox or an engine (£10k?) for example, but surely you could easily spend those sums over your time with the car just on the extended warranty and never claim the amount you spent on the warranty. But I suppose peace of mind is worth a lot for a lot of people.
Then again, don't a lot of warranty companies not cover routine things like suspension arms, brakes, tyres, regular maintenance etc which will generally form a significant percentage of the total cost of keeping the car on the road?
I'd be interested to know if anyone feels like they got real value out of the whole time they've been running an extended warranty. Not talking about over just one vehicle necessarily - for example if you've had 10 years running extended warranties, had 3 vehicles during that time, total amount spent on warranties versus claims successfully made. Because you could be unlucky with one vehicle and have a bad engine or gearbox and make a big claim, but how likely is that to happen more than once?
However, I suppose I'm forced to take this view anyway, because I don't think there's a warranty company out there that'll cover my 2005 D3 at 260k odd miles
I just put aside a bit of cash every month as a slush fund for the car and try to do as much work myself as possible to make the man-maths easier.
