We returned from 2 weeks in Switzerland 2620 miles later and the D4 never put a foot wrong. Left Lauenen just outside Gstaad on Thursday overnighted in Dijon then 9.30am Dijon to Stonehaven in a oner 997ish miles arriving 6.30am this morning
5 up with luggage and a 3 bikes on the back It was probably the most comfortable long journey i have had in a car.
Even SWMBO agreed and after my tribulations before going with lower arms and a failed MAF things started to look up when SWMBO agreed to me getting an IID tool although i just missed out on the group buy
Biggest impression was how good the roads are in the continent and how bad they are here in the UK

Yes. Well spotted but the bridge is a bit of a giveaway! I only did the East Woodburn side last weekend but I think it runs the other side of the A68 towards Bellingham too.Land Rover Discovery 4 HSE

I've got a route mapped out for some lanes around Bellingham if you want a copy, they are all nice easy non damaging lanes Cheers Ian

That would be great. I see you have a connection with the Kielder 4x4 Safaris. I used to do them regularly when they first kicked off and when I had my Pinzgauer. I must admit that I haven't done one in the Disco.Land Rover Discovery 4 HSE

If you use a mapping programme I can email you the gpx file if you pm me your email address.
We still run the Kielder Safari's, they are probably a bit tamer than when you last did it in your Pinzgauer but all the proceeds still go to the Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Team so it is a really good cause.
We had this out with us not so long ago

When I used to go (2007-2008; can't believe it was so long ago!) it was led by the Forestry Commission rangers and a few cars did get broken. Anyway, if I'm allowed to post one more Pinzgauer picture, this was me in 2007.
That's a nice 718 by the way. I bet it's worth a bit.

The 6x6 one, the guy had just bought it as a fully equipped RAF ambulance, I think he said he paid around £35K for it and then ripped all the emergency gear out and was in the middle of converting it to a overland camper.
I did that route a couple of months ago with a load of Hyundai's as they were doing a press event in Kielder so you may have seen umpteen Santa Fe's around.
The bridge you mentioned at East Woodburn, there is nearly an identical one on the lane that is just to the North of Reedsmounth.
Cheers Ian

Thirty something thousand sounds about right for one of the diesels. I'd love one but not at those kind of prices.
I'll have to give the Redesmouth lane a try.Land Rover Discovery 4 HSE
