Hunting & Radio Fault

Good morning chaps, My name is Craig and i already own a FFRR and sponsor FFRR site,,, I also own the Bobtailer D2 a few of you may have seen on the Salisbury trips this year...

OK so, i have purchased an 05MY TDV6 HSE with a couple of usual issues reading the wiki on here...

A, when driving the engine seems to hunt which is also shown on the rev counter, fluctuating by as much as 500rpm
B, drivers heated seat is inop
C, airbag light is on (could be linked with above) when i drove the car last night the lights on the steering wheel were coming on and off!
D, Radio will only turn up so high in volume and then says "low power mode"

Craig...

C, could possibly be a clock spring problem

D, maybe goosed battery and or alternator (forgot to ask does this happen when car is running or just when key is turned on)

Geoff hi, radio thing happens all the time! Battery is new and alternator is putting out 14.4v so no issue i think there!

Yes! Worth a search on here for testing - but they chuck out someh igh volts on a D3.

For A- check all turbo air pipes are not split /collapsed and air filter is clear. But could be power/charging related.
B & C - check connections under driver and passneger seats - they may need reseating. Or as suggested clock spring connections.
D-sounds like alternator / battery fault.

I would have thought that the alternator and battery are good places to start.

Thank you JDB, found the wiring fault under the drivers seat for the airbag issue... Im just awaiting a mate to come over with his IDS so i can have a look through it all...

One other quick question, i drove the car out to dinner last night and covered 40ish miles and when leaving my parents (after taking them home) i had an odd alarm sounding when i pulled away. No lights on dash or warnings in the message center and if i stopped, the alarm stopped, if i pulled away the alarm would go again! Stopped checked all the doors, restarted and no difference. Stopped again and put the EPB on and off 2 or 3 times and pulled away again and no alarm! Could it be the EPB? is there an alarm sound if there is a fault?

Ref alarm -might need a description to help - PDC beeps from 0-5mph or so?
Can be turned off/onby dash button.
Not aware of an EPB alarm - although it "screams" when on its way out / needs adjusting.

There is a beep present when you pull the EPB switch on when driving. Is this what you heard?

I wonder if the car thought the EPB was on as you pulled away, and playing with it has reset something

Ref the alarm, could it be the low temp 'bong' as the temp fluctuates around the 5degree mark?
Can be very annoying.

Dodgy seatbelt warning possibly?

That's what the forum should be about - don't get sucked into the bickering and bitching, good to get some feeback as well. Enjoy the car.
