I assure you this is not a moan. A moan indicates a thoughtless attempt to offload your problems onto someone else.
We NEED to find a solution (assistance required from any relevant field of expertise), it would be great to work with those with the technical ability (vehicle manufacturers) and vested interest to solve the matter. It is a sad fact that this has not been thus far, possible. Surely as can be, someone, somewhere is going to end up in court over this problem when being prosecuted for something that is not their fault. The LED products are all fully EEC approved items, complying with all aspects of every relevant directive.
Items in themselves manufactured by a relatively large industry. The vehicles, no doubt comply fully with all aspects of it's legal requirements and yet the two are incompatible In all probability because of an extra function built into the towing vehicle (to check for either the presence of a trailer or a bulb failure sensing system).
Electronics experts where are you!

Re my previous post, thinking about it, the LEDs on the caravan are only part of the obligatory lighting system,
as the circuit contains 6 filament bulbs perhaps these are smoothing out the current. never drive faster than your guardian angel can fly

I use some custom LED lights on my boat trailer. For me it's only the indicator lights that are affected by the pulsing.
47OHM resistor is series with each lamp, 1,000 microfarad across each lamp fixes it for me. Components from Maplin.
You might need to adjust for the specific current consumption of your lamps

You beat me to it, A simple RC circuit ( Resistor capacitor) would do the trick.

Well done chaps for sorting out the lighting ...perhaps we can work on the design next
I wonder how much is this company going to contribute to disco3.co.uk for solving it's problems? 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Ignoring comments about this being 'their problem' - it does affect more than just our own small customer base. Thank you for the suggestions. Will attempt test of such a system and report on results. If we resolve this and publish a known solution this will help all concerned both now and for the future.

well that was more for the problem of the fast flashing of the internal turn signal thing, this is a slightly more complex problem.

Bodsy wrote:But in terms of the car being up to date, LR don't use LED's for the lights, so should they be expected to cope with it? with all the electronic gadgetry in these things, perhaps with all the boings and checks that goes in, the software woiuld need some major re-work. I reckon they'll gte some LED stuff for the Disco4 but probably not before. Isn't it strange that the Disco 3 and Sport can detect trailer connections but have no bulb failure detection?

The problem gets worse than I have seen mentioned on this forum. Some electronic brake controllers pass this 3-volt pulse down to the brakes on the trailer/caravan, with the obvious result of cyclic partial activation of brakes on the towed trailer. I wasted $$ on such a controller before finding one that didnt pass this 3-volt pulse down to the trailer.
I also had a Tupperware container of electronics between my car and the caravan to stop the LED indicators from strobing on and off, but now have a device fitted that allows me to select an electronic mode when towing that keeps the car electronics happy (knows it has a trailer connected) and stops the LED's going off in strobe mode, and then I switch it back to car only when not towing.
The device is Australian made and called a Pulse Shunt, details can be found on http://www.labtronx.com.au/page2.html
Sorry about the plug for Aussie, but we do have some good ideas now and then.
