Sunroof not working and loose tube.
Last week I had to have a new alternator fitted tomy 06 Disco 3,
I have since noticed that the sun roof does not work( the fuse behind the glove compartment is OK.
Have tried holding the 'open' button pressed for half a minute - no joy.
I have also noticed a small loose ended rubber tube with a white plastic elbow. This comes from the bulkhead (behindthe battery) and stretches almost to the front of the engine compartment (on the right hand side of the car when sitting in it) My car is left hand drive. Any idea what it is for and does it need connecting somewhere?
Can't help you with the sun roof but the tube sounds like the battery breather

Hold the close button .. After about 20 seconds it should go through an open / close sequence ( keep your finger on button till it finishes )G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Thanks for your replies.
Apparently the sunroof was working after the alternator was replaced.
Tried holding the button for 20secs but no joy. Could hear no sound. Should there be a relay associated with the sunroof?
I suppose the next move is to see if there is voltage on the button , but I suppose this is supplied by some sort of control unit.
On the subject of the loose tube. If this is a battery breather where do bothe ends connect to?
Thanks in anticipation of your replies.

I think the starter switch has to be in a certain position?

Thanks for that thread.
I had tried the 20 second reset with the ignition in pos 2. Then every other position and with the engine running.
Looks as if I need to buy a workshop cd (the only one I can find is in Australia - unless anyone knows differently)
The battery voltage is OK but I will charge it anyway.

Well the only thins that can stop it working are:
Quote:
Fuse(s) blown
Circuit fault
Switch fault
Motor fault
So things to check:
Quote:
Fuses Battery junction box (BJB) - link 11E BJB - link 15E Central junction box (CJB) - Fuse 20P
Battery junction box (BJB)
Central junction box (CJB)
Wiring harness
Loose or corroded connector(s)
Roof opening panel motor and control module
Roof opening panel switch
The sunroof control module is worth looking at too:
Quote:
The sunroof control module is mounted on the rear of the [sunroof] frame, and is connected to the motor at one end as described above, and to the vehicle electrical system at the other. It takes the inputs from the vehicle, such as LIN (Local Interconnect Network) bus signals and switch signals, and controls motor movement appropriately. It also contains the algorithm for the anti-trap system.
As the pin out on the sunroof control module can bypass the LIN:
Quote:
NOTE :
Pin 6 is for use in an emergency only in the event of the vehicle LIN bus not being functional. It is not connected on the vehicle harness or in the connector.
NOTE :
Putting pin 6 to ground will enable the sunroof control module but without one touch operation or anti trap. The sunroof will not require re-calibrating unless the battery has been disconnected.
NOTE :
The sunroof control module will remain awake and enabled until pin 6 is disconnected again. Under no circumstances is this pin to be left grounded for long periods.
Hope this helps.
