Random hose found, what could it be ???

Having needed to move e D3 today to give someone access to my drive, I jumped in and , well, nothing actually, sodding battery completely flat Censored
Even though I used the vehicle on Monday with no issues, and no bongs/warnings either??

Either way, I removed the battery so I could put it on e Ctek charger in the garage, having done this , noticed a normal sized vacuum hose sat in the bottom of the battery tray, ( it was underneath the battery)

I followed it back to source and it disapears in to a large bulkhead type grommet along with parts of the wiring loom .
The pic with the hose highlighted with the red arrow, is just at the back of the battery tray, you can just make the edge of the tray out on the right.
What is is hose for ? Does anyone know.

1st pic is the hose,
2nd pic is where the hose disappears ..

Thanks,
Nick Thumbs Up

Hi flack,

I was wondering if this was what it was for, but there are no actuall male outlets on the battery, there is a female either end, and both have blanking plugs in them.
The end of the hose looks like it is either formed tomslip over something , or at so e point, has been slipped over something.

The battery is the newer 950 amp one , which made me think it was newish, but when cleaning up the terminals, one had 07 stamped onto the top of the terminal.
Is this of any relevance? As in a date stamp? ( the vehicle is an 07 plate )

Thanks very much Thumbs Up

Battery has no male outlets, only female. The pipe should be fitted to the battery via a white plastic adapter which you can see in the pic from my D3 below:

Thanks Robbie.
Definately not one of those anywhere in tray.

I guess it will be ok to just make one out of some plastic pipe and stick that in ?
Cheers, Nick.

Hmmm, neither of the batteries on mine have had that fitted. Best I poke about this weekend. Mind you, after 112,000 miles it hasn't exploded in a huge ball of flame yet.
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
