Greetings! Joined the forum a few weeks ago to help me understand the joys of LR ownership. Now the happy owner of a 2006 Disco 3, which has a significantly higher wife acceptance factor than the LTI TXII it replaced!
Even had my first gremlin today where the parking brake managed to engage and then get stuck, leaving me temporarily stranded in the middle of the road, unable to move. Luckily I had a seasoned D3 owner with me who managed to reset the system so we could get home again.

hi everybody, my names Stewart and i'm a discoholic, i've been using for 18 months now.
I had always wanted a d2 but came across a 3 for a bargain price, ex farm vehicle with 258k on the clock and a stack of paperwork, it looked and felt like it earned every one of those miles and i was hooked, loved it until something oil related failed and i had my first runaway diesel experience, after explaining to the wife what that meant neither her or the kids were to get in the car.
Whilst hunting for a new car i found a 55 plate hse with light panel damage to the n/s i couldn't believe my luck, snapped it up and swapped out the doors and wing plus a few other bits and pieces before scrapping he old girl.
this land rover is the one everybody warned me about, oh dear lord its a headache i am going to become a regular in here looking for help and advice, hopefully making some friends along the way

Hi Phil, not sure if this helps but i recently swapped the rear light clusters on my van for led units and found i had to install in line resistors in order for them to work, not sure if this is the issue here but it may be worth a look they can be picked up cheaply enough from ebay ect

welcome everyone,
i could be wrong but as your D3 is now 14/15 years old its not geared up for LED due to their low draw on current, which makes the ECU's think there is a fault. Try the in line resistors or maybe look for light units with build in resistors to fit to the trailer.
Good luck 2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

Hello to all, Picking up my, new too me, Disco 3 Se over the weekend. This is my first ever Landrover and very excited as I’ve spent 4 months looking for the right one. It’s a blue 2005 SE that comes with FSH, cam belt and transmission service done🤞Plan on a few mods over the summer and making it more expedition ready.
Looking forward to getting involved in the forum. In the mean time does anyone know of a club member in the West Sussex area that would be able to enable the 4x4 info etc on the nav screen please. Thanks. PS, photos to follow.

Welcome
the first thing to check is to see if the oil pump has been uprated to the later type, there is a weakness in the casting of the original pump where the timing belt idler attaches. If the idler snaps off the engine will be destroyed.
Its not part of the normal service schedule so may not have been done unless requested. Andrew
