OK, so I kinda slipped and ordered a new D4. Actually it wasn't entirely my fault. I was a bit cranky 'cos my 2005 Disco 3 developed a suspension fault which wouldn't go away until we reprogrammed the 'puter. Then Land Rover Australia put on a end of year sale.... Then my local dealer had a car that suited me coming in two weeks.... and to cap it off he accepted my very unreasonable offer for change over.
Sooooooo....
I have a 2012 HSE SDV6 arriving in about 2 weeks. It's orkeney grey (what the hell IS an orkeney?) with almond interior. I'm not sure about the dark grey. It might get a bit warm here - hence the lighter interior preference. Tomorrow is going to be 35 degrees celcius (95farenheit) and that's pretty normal for his time of year. Two years ago it hit 48.5c (119f). And Feb gets even hotter.... So colour is a practical choice here. We'll soon find out.
The HSE spec is kinda wacky in oz, but we now get most of the good stuff. We don't get the 8 speed. But we do get mats. Hmmm... a bit stiffed there.
The only things I will add are roof bars and a cargo box (for skiing/beach etc). Suggestions appreciated on which make/model box and bars are best. Hopefully the D3 load matt will fit and I'll think about bringing the second battery across too - after I've had a look at the re-jig required.
Other than that I'm mildly excited at the thought of new wheels in 2 weeks. This will be my third Disco. We in the colonies have to do what we can to keep the mother country going.... Disco 2 TD5 "Good"
Disco 3 TDV6 "Better"
Disco 4 HSE SDV6 "Best"

Strange how the Oz models have yet to gain the 8-speed auto box.....perhaps it has something to do with the time it takes for the vehicles to be shipped from the UK? 2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

No requirement to put in the eight speed box. Oz is till behing Euro emmission regs which is why LR had to put the eight speed in.
LR Oz can make more money with the lower spec box. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€
