CY's G4 Challenge 2008 Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE
Hi all,
I originally joined this forum back in 2004 as an enthusiastic teen when our family had just bought one of the first Discovery 3s. I remember fondly us using the forum to learn about the vehicle, fix (many) faults and attend events with the original incarnation of DISCO3 forum members. Both the vehicle and this forum were in their infancy at that time.
Since then, I've stayed very much in the Land Rover fold and have owned a D2 Td5 and an L322 Td6. I've worked for JLR and stayed very much within the LR communities in the UK. But, at last, after some 12 years of yearning after owning my very own D3, I've finally done it... .
Here she is. It's one of the 68 2008 G4 Challenge vehicles Land Rover built for the most recent competition. This vehicle was one of five D3s for the Belgian selections. I picked it up on Friday and have spent the weekend cleaning it and getting to know it.
Early impressions are very, very positive. I've been hugely impressed with the drive and now I finally understand what's meant by the permagrin... I was smiling ear-to-ear all the way up the M6 on Friday! It's certainly a head turner and perhaps I'm biased but I love the orange/black combo.
Here are some photos as I know they are always mandatory!!
I'm not planning a to do a huge amount to it although it's getting the windows tinted tomorrow in line with that black/orange theme, and then top of the list is having all the original G4 Challenge decals fitted to restore it to its authentic original challenge spec.
For any fellow G4 enthusiasts who might be interested in its heritage, here are some pictures I've tracked down of its use in the Belgian trials.

Looking forward to re-learning everything there is to know about the D3, driving and enjoying the D3 and hopefully attending some events soon!
