Cool Looking good, Ron

Have you used something on your wheel arches? Mine are getting very tired looking. Keeping an eye out of a way to revamp them somehow.

Thanks chaps Thumbs Up

@ LW - didn’t check the payload of the roof rack.
Reason, it’s suitable for a roof tent (which would take the weight of at least 2 mid weight adults).
I only use the roof rack for ‘wolf’ boxes which just contain my camping kit, so no big payload issues.

The side boxes def won’t fall off, they’re mounted as solid as heck ….. I was only jesting. Wink

@ Rog - thank you for your gracious offer, disappointing as it may be, but unfortunately I’ll have to decline.
Nice try though. Very Happy

@ Tanters
Haven’t used anything on the arches, though I believe peanut butter is good for them.
I did buy a jar, but ended up putting it on bread ….. it’s even nice on toast. Confused

Been a bit busy with house & garden chores recently ......... mrs ronp's sentence for me spending too much time on the D4. Rolling Eyes

Anyway, made some progress with the Solar panel.

Fabricated some stainless steel brackets, drilled and bolted onto the frame of the panel.
The three front ones angled into the panel & the three rear ones angled away from the panel.
Also as the D4 roofline steps up at this point, so added some twin 'D' rubber seal to the rear section in case of contact with the roof [and added a single strip down each side for added protection].

Mounted the panel onto the PS roof rack and plugged it into the cabling I laid earlier.
Within minutes of mounting, I could see the volts rising and having done a few miles since the installation, all is well and it's charging the YT leisure battery as it should.

Also happy that the panel doesn't protrude above the roof rack due to the frame depth.

Fitting the rally style mud flaps is now the next job...... then I can maybe get away use the damn thing as I intend to..... before the snow comes. Laughing

Nice work, Ron.

All you need now are some proper tyres Whistle Wink I jest, all looking great.

Think I may opt for the side pods. 2 weeks in Europe travelling around with swmbo and 2 smallies and space was at absolute capacity from when we set off Shocked Meant we couldn’t stock up on crap in decathlon, which wasn’t a bad thing I suppose Laughing

Deffo, the pods would be very useful for the stuff you regularly use at camp everyday, rather than digging into the messy boot Big Cry

How have you found them on the motorway at speed?

Thanks Andy, solar panel working great Thumbs Up
And it was either too damn hot or too sodden wet to get these flaps fitted (I jacked up & removed the rear wheels for fitting).

@ Tanters, great stuff you got away, trust it’s not too hot where you are.
Here it’s a typical Scottish summer …… peeing it down !!!
(be glad to get back down to North Yorks). Rolling Eyes

There’s no noise whatsoever on the side boxes, there’s a foam seal between the boxes & the window.
And yes dead easy to get the kit out without stretching & rummaging in the load space.
Happy hols Thumbs Up
