We're talking Freeloader 2's 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
2017 to date: FFRR SDV8
2023 to date: 2 x FL2 as โsecondโ cars ๐
2021 to date: Hinckley built โ14 Triumph Trophy 1200
2022 to date: Hinckley built โ14 Triumph Trophy 1200 & sidecar!

Though it's probably not a fair comparison, as all the UK Evoques were pre registered in the previous year and were sold as delivery mileage cars and therefore, excluded from the list.

Sorry you said "Evoques" which threw me ...to be clear the FL2 in that list are an anomaly ...I don't know why they still feature in the sales figures but there must be a reason.... what I'm trying to say is that if you look back at the FL2 sales figures of previous years the DS is holding it's own.
J@mes the BMW and Audi sales are way higher by comparison as they have the build capacity and have regularly sold over a million units p.a. across their respective ranges ...obviously the goal for JLR is to be at 1m units in the future 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Sorry, you're both quite right. I've just been back to correct my mistake there! 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Not sure where you get your facts from but they are incorrect. I know of at least one Freelander that was registered at the start of this year and was registered new to the first owner. MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange
MY15 D4 HSE Kaikoura Stone
MY12 D4 HSE Nara Bronze Sold and gone
MY11 D4 HSE Stornaway Grey Sold and gone
D3 S spec Silver Sold and gone
Tow bar, full length roof bars, side steps, tow bar storage unit, surround camers.

Okay, I've tried not to be insulted by the instant dismissal of what I reported as being "incorrect"!
I trawled the dealer network for a new Freelander 2 in November 2014 and every dealer told me the same thing. The last one to do so was Hunters in Norwich. Each one told me that any new stock that they had had left over by 1/11/14 had to be pre-registered.
Perhaps a few slipped the net? 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Moral of the story beinb never totally believe what the dealers tell you. They may be 90% right 90% of the time but never 100% right 100% of the time. They can make things up as they go along, just like we do in the vacuum created by too many questions and not enough correct information.

Can anyone tell me what sort of discount (if it is 6-8% now) you might get on a D4 in the last few months of build, comparing the discount that you could get with the run out of D2/3?

You might be lucky and get 6-8% plus a further 5% if you can get an NFU discount on top.
Demand for the current Discovery is still strong. I ordered in August and have a build date of early December for a 16MY. Orders are now being taken for 16.5MY which goeson sale in January for the last few months of production. Almost all Discovery's being built have been sold, although a few will be Dealer stock vehicles.

When I spoke to my dealer about a D5 he said the D4 was selling very strong at the moment plenty of new orders and a strong demand for nearly new ones. He sold my previous D4 the day after I swapped it apparently. This could hinder discounts if its a sellers market.
I think its a combination of the D4 still being a top notch car even on a 10 year old platform and people worrying the D5 won't fill its boots or will cost significantly more. MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten
MY12 HSE - Gone
MY16 HSE Luxury - Sold

We ordered our Discovery MY16 in September and also have build slot of December and was told by our dealer that a week later there are no more slots available to their entire chain. They also said that production of the current Discovery will cease March-April 2016. Also directly from Land Rover, told features and specifications in the MY16 is the final change to the current Discovery (we wanted more than can be optioned) and told this is the be all and end all for current shape.
I'll be if they do add something we want next year before the big change.

Think "scaled up (Full Fat) Disco Sport" with, initially at least, a 2 litre, 4 cylinder diesel. Assume an eye watering cost increase and the full range taking at least a year, maybe two, before it's with us. 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
