Side Step fitting
I've fitted some side steps to my 06 D3 SE and can certainley say that the time it takes is well worth the effort as the finish results look great
I've read the posts re corrosion with interest and I think I might have to get pro active with the hamerite
With anything you do for the first time the first step takes you ages but the second will be much easier to do
The time consuming part is cutting out the holes in the side trim, I used a jigsaw with a long blade (but mind your fingers) all I would say is dont be too anal about cutting the holes too perfectly as you will never see them again unless you manage to roll your 2.7tonne LR! just make sure you clear all the plastic inside the lines
Also dont get exicited (as I did) and bolt the steps all the way back on before snaping the trim on as some of the the bolts are used to secure the trim as well
Beware of cheap steps from China that have plastic aluminum effect trim instead of the nice brushed metal of the offical parts
