Yep - I'd be interested in a set of VTK500010 - certainly at the price they went for last time!! Best price I can find (for genuine LR part) is £100 more.
Much appreciated if it happens - I'm sure it's a lot of effort to organise.

Mine appear to be fairly well stuck on, what breaks/fails so that they fall off?

If you look underneath the step, you will see that the aluminium strip is held on with 4 or 5 rivets - unfortunately these corrode over time and then the strip falls off. About a year before I sold my D3 A friend and I took both my sidesteps off, replaced all the damaged rivets and then smooth hammerited the underside of the step after removing all the loose rust.

Thanks for that, will have a look, had hoped they would have lasted a year at least

My LR OEM sidesteps are now 3,5 years old and the silver strip just fell off as well. As you can see there was also a bit of rust visible so I checked under the plastic:
This is what they looked like:
They have a "Made in England" stamp on them, so I thought they should be suited to rain/water! I guess not!!!
So it might be a good idea to put some Hammerite or maybe Waxoil on it before fitting them.
Already contacted LR to find out what they have to say about this great product.

Sirdeck, any reply back from LR yet re your crumbling sidesteps?? Curious to know if they give you the same load of waffle as they gave me. Nick

Hi Nick,
just got an email yesterday from our LR service partner and it seems that they will actually cover 100% for the replacement steps. I'm not sure how our service partner convinced LR but apparently they somehow managed to do so. But I will only fully believe it when I have the new side steps and will not receive an invoice for them. If everything works out I will paint them paint them with Hammerite first and then use some Sikaflex/Tigerseal glue to make sure that the silver stripes don't fall off again.
