I'm sure it has no bearing on your problems with this car, but you might want to take the red transit plug out of the battery breather and connect the breather hose to it, especially if you are charging it overnight. Both are visible in the picture that you posted of the battery.

Thanks. That is the spare battery that was thrown in there in case mine was duff. The other end is vented.

Usually my proper battery has the tube connected 👍

Is the picture of the clocks yours? Temp gauge at max points at canbus issues/comms issues with engine ecu surely? I’d be popping the plugs off the engine ecu and transfer case ecu behind the battery and checking for corrosion, failing that I’d be looking at sending off the clocks for checking/repair.

Ok thanks. Yes that is my car.

The engine ECU is the one behind the battery, right?

Where is the transfer case one?

The temp gauge has always worked fine. I did notice that it was at the top but wasn't sure if it usually goes back down to the bottom once the engine starts?

Hi again,

I have removed the transfer case module and all the connectors seem pretty clean. There was a tiny bit of corrosion on one side which I've cleaned up. This has made no difference.

I've also removed the 3 big plugs on the main ECU and all looks ok.

I found a different menu on my IID tool where I can access each module. For example, the parking brake one allows me to operate the unjam procedure.

All the modules I go into have a list of things I can do except for the PCM. That has no list at all. Is that because it can't communicate with it? Now, is the PCM the one behind the TCM behind the battery, or is it a different one? If so, where the heck is it???

Also, as an aside, when I unplugged the TCM there was another pair of wires hanging down that weren't connected to anything. I found what they were me to be plugged into and thought that it must have fallen out and there was the solution. It wasn't 😔 Photo of these wires attached.

So, where is this pesky PCM located?

Thanks!

Plse have a look at the ECM as there is an internal cooling fan inside so that might be for that , if not will be the transport connector

Cheers, I found it. It was quite obvious.

My main query is where is the PCM. Can you tell me? 👍

Laughing 🤣 ok thanks, I thought as much. The one with the 3 big connectors on top

All connections seem clean and I can't see any damaged wires

Do you think the fact that my IID tool can't seem to communicate with it points to it being damaged? Please see the attached screenshot. Pretty please!

Or maybe it's because you have to have the Pro version of GAP IID Tool to access the PCM? Quite sensible that I don't have access to a pro version. Beginning to feel quite out of my depth.

Rolling with laughter

No probs and happy to help , to be honest I can’t 100% remember with relation to PCM module

Just looked back after u done the canbus test and as there both reading around 60ohms that would indicate to me the circuit is ok, but of course that’s just on the canbus wires and not the rest so to speak

The Vdc on the second lot seem low as I was always to understand they should also read around 2.5vdc which would indicate a bad earth

Of course the more knowledgeable members would be able to confirm if that’s correct please

There are some earths that sit behind the front passengers side wheel arch liner , these earths are used by the PCM, TCM and suspension so would at least be worth giving them a clean as I had issues with not getting a 5vdc reference voltage onto my pcm, after cleaning it resolved it

I used a dremel with a wire brush to clean the terminals and post , then reinstalled them with some copperslip

Enclosed some more pics of other earths that I cleaned around the vehicle

Also strange the temp sensor is reading max like that , would at least double check the connection to ensure the wires and pins are ok

Plus of course the battery is very important with these as should read around a min of 12.6 Vdc with the engine off

Last picture where the blue bit is , that’s where the large earth connection is

Hope this may help u

Another thought seeing there’s a lot of FBH fault codes, wonder if it’s worth unplugging it plse , clear the codes and rescan, just to take it out of the equation so to speak

Would also get a BM2 battery monitor , ur then be able to see what the standing and crank voltage are

Enclosed a link for u

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Battery-Monitor-C...amp;sr=8-2

I’m still wondering because the landy was jump started with a very low battery if it’s spiked a module , but would assume a fuse would blow but see you’ve tested al, of them

Know it’s easy to go down a rabbit hole but hopefully working through it step by step we can try and find the answer , plus of course need to get that red light out

Just hope this is also useful to u

Picture of that battery monitor

Thanks again

I have cleaned up the ground post in the wheel arch and the one forward of the battery. I'll look for the others.

Also, I have found on my IID tool that I can select the faults I'm being shown. The last readings have reported back Confirmed and Test Not Completed faults. I removed the Test Not Completed faults out of interest and was able to clear a lot of those.

The below is what I'm left with:

Not sure what to do next. I'll look into that battery monitor, thanks, but it's beginning to feel like I have to get it to the independent garage £££££

Oh dear. Now I think I've knackered the IID Tool. I unplugged the FBH but the tool was still plugged in. I scanned for faults and the app crashed. Now I can't seem to connect to the tool 🤬
