Injector removal
Hello all.
I need to get my injectors out and wondered if any one can direct me to the right tool for the job?

Normally they come out without any struggle unless the copper seals have been leaking. If the seals have failed an injector puller (slide hammer) along with a spray lubricant will get them free.......eventually.
There's plenty of cheap pullers available everywhere. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Thank you.
I am really after which puller people use successfully, as the injectors under the bulkhead are space limited.

If they rears won't budge you need to twist them back and forth and pull at the same time. Use wd40 as a lube or brake cleaner to dissolve the carbon. Sometimes it takes time if they're stuck but you'll get there.
If things are really bad slacken the injector retaining bolts a couple of turns (or fit longer ones) then crank over the engine a few revolutions and the compression will (should) pop them for you

Cheers. But how do you twist them? They have no flats for a spanner…..mildly vexing.

Use a socket and a short extension over the pipe fitting or a water pump pliers on the cast body. Make certain you retrieve the copper seals and you must renew them. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Appreciate the reply. We must be talking of differing injectors.
The pipe fitting is threaded and there is zero space to grip the body as the leak off comes out the side at an angle and there is no space under it to grip the body.
Yes…..most vexing.

OK….so i picked this up off the Amazon for 21 euros.
M14 thread and it screws down on to the top of the injector. Gentle repeated tapping and the injector rises upwards. Hooray.
I will try to work out how to fit it to the rear one now! I suspect the welder might come out to make an angled bracket.
Is it possible to get a crowdfunding thing going to arrange to repeatedly ass kick the designer of this cars engine bay?

Ah….the joy of the rear injector.
The land rover adaptor/special tool to use on the slide hammer is not available to the public….so that is a !
So, i found a company in Germany selling a swivel joint on a M14 fitting for the injector and a M10 fitting for a slide hammer.
This all fitted nicely but there was still not enough room under the bulkhead to get the angle to pull it out as the plastic housing for the wiring loom blocks the way.
So shifting that forwards and there is enough room to get the slide hammer shaft right up against the rubber seal and the angles work perfectly to tap that sucker out.
One thing i learnt was that the bonnet goes vertical! Who knew! Pop off the gas struts and there is a spring clip that shifts over to clip in a safety knob holding the bonnet secure….brilliant.

Nice work,
It is always the rear ones that will be stuck solid. I have had luck in the past when I was doing the secondary turbo and manifolds, I was able to take off the engine mount and dropped the engine by a couple inches made a massive difference!

I can not even fathom how i would drop the engine in this thing! I thought you would have to lift the body to achieve that.
