You mean you don't know the difference between rocks and trees I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

Rock sliders take the weight of the car whilst you slide over rocks.
Tree Sliders either move sapplings outta the way or slide the car around the tree/stump.
Either way Rays stuff is top notch and will do the job

Em, won't the rock sliders also move saplings out of the way? Ray, what are the things you've got on your Disco and that I'm getting?
Yes, but the point is that the rocks are underneath the car (generally) and the trees are at the side of the car (generally), so rock sliders protect the sill and underside and tree sliders kind of push the car away from the tree trunk (generally - or the tree away from the car).
Unfortunately, Mrs RPG uses the side steps and insists that any replacement can also be used as a step...which is a bit of a problem because to make tree sliders wide enough to use as a step makes them inherently week.
Ady - I'll show you them in use when they are fitted
And I'm not thinking saplings. I'm thinking off big trees. I don't expect to move the tree. I expect to move the D3!
Thinking about putting some on the roof, too

Nah! It's because trees have a nasty habit of growing on the hills I want to drive across....so the vehicle is at an angle...so the roof hits the tree whilst the tree sliders at the bottom are well clear. The only problem is I don't have the faintest idea what the lateral forces and tollerences are...but we like to experiment
Neil - you are right. They are rock sliders with a bar...but they are different! Slam your broadside into a tree and you'll find out why you want tree sliders.

Rock sliders dont have the bar - what you call sill protectors. Tree sliders are sill protectors with a bar. So no - they dont do he same thing - your sill protectors dont protect from sideways impact.
That it Neal they don't look the same cos one has a tube on and one as not any am i bothered nah Home of RLD Hidden winch mounts Spare wheel Locks Trailer Body Fabrication [email protected] D3/4 sump plates MY 14 sump plates and the Discovery Sport wheel protectors Discovery 5 wheel locks
