Gary. Do your research but consider Kunifer pipes for, as has been said, it is much easier to work with.

Insofar as insurance is concerned talk to your insurers about a lower level of cover, it might be worthwhile.

Good luck.

Many thks and indeed would do it in kunifer

Suppose at the moment there’s so many questions that I’m not 100% sure of until I get a proper look at everything that’s been highlighted , get some piccies and then share them to see what the views are

That’s a good idea, thk u

Thks Pete as that’s good to know

Indeed would use kunifer , was just curious on the flaring tool and coupling etc

Think I’ll be a lot happier in one sense once I’ve stripped both sill panels off and have a good look around in what I’m dealing with

Thks as always

Must confess I think it has to be kunifer and not copper

Of course happy to be corrected if that’s not true

Hi mate

Bless u as always and must confess wouldn’t attempt to try the welding on this seeing it’s such an integral part of the vehicle , I’ve only done stick welding over the years

Disco came back this morning so happy it’s at least back on my driveway

Will try and get my neighbour to take the plastic sill covers off for me both back and front on both sides

Think I’ll also strip the rear inner arches out to ensure no rust has traveled that far

I’ll then give the welder a call to come out and have a look once I’ve exposed everything for him

Talking of welding I hope by just disconnecting the battery and alternator lead at the battery end and the earth will protect the modules from any welder spikes and not frying them

Thks again as always

Out of curiosity Talking of copper I assume it would work harden opposed to kunifer remaining flexible etc , so indeed maybe that’s why many countries don’t allow the copper

Hi Gary...Greetings from France Thumbs Up

Sorry to read about your woes, especially after all the work you have done on your Disco Big Cry
I went through a similar trauma a few years ago when the engine on mine decided to throw a con-rod through the block. I decided after a great deal of thought to get the engine replaced at great cost and, touch wood,it's been fine so far with 40K uneventful miles.
Previous to that I replaced the rear suspension arms, tie rods and bearings including wheel bearings. I bought second hand wishbones from GOS which were in excellent condition and at a good price. Decided to Polybush them as I have used them on other Land and Range Rovers that I have owned, personally I have never had an issue with them but it's each to his own.
I have also used copper brake lines for years without any problems (3/16" dia), it's a double swage and the fittings are M10x 1mm pitch. I have the same flaring tool as mentioned in earlier posts and found it to be very good.
Hope all of your searches for solutions and options turn out to be favourable
All best wishes Buddie
Good Luck Bow down
