The most useful accessories I have are a ladder and an expedition rack. The D5 has no means of fitting these and it wasn't part of the design brief.

Then perhaps stop mocking others who dare to criticise the D5.

And exactly how is it nasty? Do explain. The D5 is targetted as a lifestyle vehicle, not what those of us who have been in the LR family for decades would view as a proper "Land Rover". And LR's own actions by not supporting the off road aspect is quite clear.

Again, what is nasty about that?

Best off roading car ever? Define 'best'. I have seen no evidence of hardcore off road capability beyond existing or past products. There is no evidence to support this statement as yet. And the fact that if this really is best off roading car ever, why have they not supported it with some proper off road kit and accessories.

Marketing BS until such time as we see one of these things pushed to the limits.

And the lack of support for off road is quite clear to see. Do you disagree that there are no off road accessories or other kit for it?

You feel free to try and shut down others' discussions and make accusations and then refuse to explain yourself.

You mean you can't explain your overwhelming need to censor any post that criticises the D5 and in your mind allows you to mock others? Try reading your own posts if you are worried about nasty.

So if it go's off road and has no major place for winch ext how will it be recovered ?.In the manual i take it states please take a proper land rover with you incase of getting stuck and need help?

I think we can agree that the D5 is NO replacement for the D3/4. Its now aimed at the premium soft roader / lifestyle market of the X5, Q7 and Merc. To differentiate it in this crowded market it uses LR's off- road heritage and its off-road capability. That's fine. Its style is also subjective and we know a bit 'Marmite'. What gets my goat is the LR marketing bull that comes with it trying to convince me about its practicality and rufty tufty go anywhere ability, when this is patently not its market and not the case.

Obviously I'm no longer in the Discovery target market group and many others on here are also in that position. That's where the Defender will hopefully come in. In the meantime we can all agree to disagree and blame LR's marketing bull Censored for this disharmony. Constantly regurgitating 'road tests' doesn't prove any point neither does the non subjective views of those of us who don't have one. However, the rear is ugly and the middle seats are still poor. Laughing

Sadly what started out as good natured banter as now turned into quite hostile responses. I must say I do find it quite funny that the D3/4 is being portrayed as some heavy duty off roader when clearly at its launch it was and still is a luxury 4x4 no doubt over time these stick on bits for the D5 will evolve if there is a market for the them . I bet the defender section of this forum are Censored themselves reading about who's got the most rugged luxury car. At the moment I have a D4 XS does that make me more hard-core than a HSE owner?
As previously said let's agree to disagree and keep it light hearted. It's not life and death. Very Happy
