What beats me is people saying the new D5 is growing on them or they like it or love it etc. yet they slag off the DS. Wake up people the D5 is a slightly bigger and no doubt more costly DS.
Personally, I am hard pushed to tell the difference between LR models, I still have to look twice when I see a DS and an Ewoke.

If they do one. If they can build lots and lots of cars, keeping lines at full capacity, for the yummy mummy/school run set why would they bother with the utility/hairy ar$ed end of the market?
Just a thought.

Build another production line with all ther profit, they could even get Tata steel to supply the materials to help them out also. Discovery commercial tdv6 auto 2013

You know their design guru in chief, Posh Spice won't allow that.
By the time LR get round to it they will have abandoned that sector of the market for a few years, allowing the competition to totally dominate. Plus with the low numbers they were building before the line was shut down, I wouldn't be at all suprised if it's subtly left dropped. Put bluntly, Deafner enthusiasts are not that important to them.
All IMHO of course.

I best start looking for another D4 commercial to use when I have worn the current one out then, as they do not plan to do a D5 commercial and had said the new deafner would cover that sector. Discovery commercial tdv6 auto 2013

All of the Discos right up to the D4 are of a distinctive, unique design combining practicality with comfort and driving satisfaction. This D5 is nothing more than a modern, run-of-the-mill SUV, similar to all other ones on the market today. The side view is, dare I say, not unlike the current Beemer!!! It is, in my opinion, a totally un-unique (is there such a word?) and quite boring modern SUV. I'm sure it will be very nice to drive and will have all the bells and whistles for a vehicle of that calibre (cost!). But it is so much the same as all the others! Nothing distinctive about it at all. 2007 Disco3 2.7 tdv6 SE

My gripe with the DS is its p s poor quality for the price tag and a new car based on an ageing chassis, rear seats that don't fold flat and rattled badly, slide and recline seating who asked for that?, 3rd row seating that's useless, seat belts that don't have height adjustment, parcel shelf rattled badly, 3rd row seat belts that don't stay in their little retaining clips, signature lighting in the doors that can't be seen, touch screen a bit of a stretch for the driver (personal).
I liked how it looked and drove, a good car ruined by LRs that'll do attitude. I would be open to trying another one just in case my one was a bad one but I would take an auto this time and Dynamic spec.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

Personally I don't like the DS but like the look of the D5, they are a very similar shape but size and proportion can really make a car look (and feel) very different. The Disco and RR have a presence about them and part of that comes from their size and height. The DS lacks Size and Height and just blends in with any other car on the road. The D5 in some of the road shots especially those posted by Martin last month really show the size of it and it looks huge in some shots MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten

JLR are there to make money. The Ewok, DS etc have sold, the D5 will sell. They may not sell to the traditional enthusiast of the D3 or D4, but maybe they will sell more as a result of its big SUV styling - thats what they are there to do unfortunately, like it or lump it.
Personally I probably won't be able to afford one anyway, so an upgrade to late D4 in a couple of years is more realistic. Then after that, who knows.MY2012 D4 HSE Nara Bronze with some extra stuff
