Hey Rob, sorry to hear that . Mine started knocking again after 24hrs. Also had other issues (see how worried should I be...sorry, cant do the link thingy ). Now lots of little intermittant faults (stero, c/c, suspension), don't think they loaded the s/ware properly. They were kind enough to install a few new rattles in the dash though ......as well as not removing the one I asked them too.
Have spoken to Alto (where I purchased it), seemed genuinely concerned, and when I'm able, will take it up there for a few days to get everything sorted......hopefully

Hallo Rob, my LR has 40000km on the clock and has the exact same noise on the steering when going over bumpy road. LS have replaced steering rack, steering column and front diff and still no improvement. Need to take in to dealer but since in Africa no dealer in 200 km radius. Going to take mine to independent suspension specialist, maybe they can pinpoint the noise, because I definitely think this is a problem on some Disco 3. Will let the dealer check out the suspension bushes RichardK (don’t know name) suggested, maybe we’re lucky. Will keep you posted if, when problem is solved. Good luck

Gethro & RichardK
Dealer phoned, now its controle bushes, this is one of the components I mentioned to them, and you were corect Richard as well, Gethro how is yours going ?
I do not know why dealers do not at least listen a little bit to customers, In my case this may have been fixed ages ago, but we are only customers and how would we know, they obviously have no idea of the way Disco owners comunicate through the web.
Eneyway they say I can pick it up tomorrow, lets hope that is the last of it. Fingers crossed

Hope yours is all good when u pick it up tomorrow mate

Gethro,
When warrenty expires there is a workshop in Mitchel that specialises in LR, Normal serviceing by them much cheeper and wont void warrenty, but they cannot do warrenty work. They have been recomended very highly.

G'day Rob & Gethro
just got my vehicle back after having the tail shaft replaced. There was a small vehicle shudder at varying speeds (not in the steering). Will have to see how it goes now. Not able to fully test yesterday due to the rain and water all across the roads - and I am not complaining.
When I had my Rangie a few years ago I always used the bloke in Mitchell and always had excellent service from him. The only reason I stopped was when I changed to a new TD5 and was mostly away from the area when servicing was due. Now live on the opposite side of town and a bit difficult to get to him.

the worst of nightmares.....the unspecified return date of your car!!! I really hope all works out well Rob, but without sounding too pessimistic.............I'd brace myself too be really, really off, just to be on the safe side , I find it quite often avoids dissapointment!

As mentioned earlier got my Disco back with a new tail shaft etc and did not notice any shudder on the way home. But alas after a few small trips it is still there. Booked in again next week. Will check to see if your Disco is still there Rob!!!!!
Wonder how long or if they will be able to find out what my problem is......

They inform me now they have to order steering ball joints, starting to get off
So more delays, I dont think they know whats wrong, just keep fitting new parts and lets see if it works.

Gethro,
No loan car, I did not ask for one as takeing the D3 in coinsided with picking up another vechle in Fyshwick that was haveing work done on it, so dident bother, by the way they will only rent you a hard riding little buzz box which I cant be bothered with. It would be a diferent matter if I was offered a D3, Defender or even one of those baby Landys.
Just called the dealer and they cant find the workshop foreman so no update so not sure what is going on but one thing is for sure I am now getting realy p d off now,
Usually fairly pachent but its running very low
So waiting for a call back when they find the foreman, What a three ring circus
