Mines had a knock in the steering for a while and falls outside the Vin's mentioned on this post. Took it in to be looked at and they've decided to replace the power steering box> Has been on back order for a week and a half and the job is getting done tomorrow. Will be interesting to see how it goes.

Saw it on the hoist when i picked mine up, nice setup you have 8) . Dont know who belongs to the other, but it was still in the same spot in the afternoon . How do you find the coopers? I have 18" rims still with the OEM tyres....once they're done I'm looking at either the coopers or the Grabber AT2's

gethro, Cooper STT's noisy on road, handel well, off road exerlent, I use them for off road trips. The rest of the time I have Cooper HT+ on the 18" rims. It is a little bother changing them but is worth the effort
Grabber AT2's I do not know , there is info. somewere on the site. Look in Wheels & Tires. As I understand they are in short supply and would advise puting an order in well in advance.

Nearly forgott, got D3 back after new steering column, I will have to give it a workout to know if all is good.
Also I ordered some spairs for my trip, the price of a radiator hose kit $360 bucks fan belt $58, air filter $ fades into insignificnce, But the front and rear ride hight joining links , guess what $1.91 + GST each. these are to modifie when the details are posted

Now after steering rack and lower steering colomn replaced the clunking is still there, it can be herd but not felt through the steering, the dealer has had it since Monday and replaced some bushes only to phone me thisafternoon to say they need the car longer as the clunking has not stoped. I am suprised they do not look up what needed to be replaced from their records from other dealers to get an idea where to start looking
They said the usual " we have never herd of this problem before" I explained there were a large number with this problem world wide especially in the MY05 cars, the reply was "UMMMMMMM"
With 10 months of warrenty left and only 51,000 km on the clock, I hope this issue gets resolved now as it has been going on far too long

I had the same "clunking"some 40000K's ago, dealer did the same as regards the steering rack but still there, took it back and persisted and then had the suspension (there is a name for them) bushes replaced.......all quiet and has been since then so I suggest that these bushes are checked, could be the problem
