yes, a Stratstones ... but hear me out!!
Had my D3 serviced there recently because they'd price match.
Ripon Land Rover didn't even want to know!
However, after last service [where I had a door strike plate replaced] the door handle began to stick.
Also noticed one of the grommets on the RAI had disappeared.
I conveyed this to Peter [the Service Manager] who promptly took control and arranged a visit to me to inspect.
No ... this wasn't an excuse to get out of the office early!!
Peter visited me [at 6.30pm] after hours and I am 35 miles away from the dealership!!!
He had on him, a couple of sets of RAI grommets, that even TLO cann't get hold of.
We arranged my D3 would be booked in the next time I was in the area for the door handle problem to be fixed.
In the meantime they had already ordered [and sprayed silver] a replacement door handle ..which was needed.
I called at the dealership on Monday, but decided there and then that I'd like the gearbox oil changed [to cure a judder].
Initially I was leaving the D3, collecting a loan car and returning within 2 hours to collect my D3.
But they agreed to take my D3 and not only fix the door handle issue, but also carry out the gearbox oil change.
They quoted £195 for this, whilst my local garage quoted £220.
I returned at the end of the day only to be told they found a hairline crack on the gearbox sump plug and weren't happy to let it go.
So, unhappy with the volvo S40 they lent me, they put me in a FL2 to get home.
The following day, the new drain plug arrived and was fitted and Peter advised that he personally would be delivering my D3 back to me.
Again, a 70 mile round trip, Peter [the Service Manager] delivered my D3 to me at around 6.30pm.
My D3 went in to them full of mud splatters and all the grime of winter.
But came out, not just with a basic jet wash down, but a full valet, inside and out [including between the doorchecks].

I didn't buy the D3 from them!!!
My D3 is well out of LR warranty!!
Yet, I receive such and exceptional service.
to Stratstones, Stockton and in particular to Peter.
Oh, and by the way, the price for the oil change was actually £10 less than they originally quoted.
A real, proper, caring LR dealership !!...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

Yep Ian, I'm a firm beleiver of, it's not 'the name over the door' ...
but 'the people you deal with' that make or break a company!!
And yes ..... as your eyesight and hearing are failing you ...
it is a STRATSTONES branch!!...... always on the road less travelled 🚧
