The other thing I have noticed about the 2014 car is the RFL is £620 for the first year and £280 per year after that.
I was expecting £475.

not realised the lower tax until I got the tax disc through the post.
I agree about the stupid stop/start technology. Think Land Rover have some bugs to sort out with it.
A couple times it has shut the whole car down when I put it into park.
Then the next time it does nothing while I'm waiting for it to shut the car down.

It wont do it for a range of reasons:
Battery Level
Cooling/heating system in use etc
It still catches me out but I by default turn it off...it is absolutely awful - in any car - you should be able to disable it.
The tax thing was the first thing I got interested in moving across to a disco, my only main motivatorMike

Its possible to have timed climate in a GS but GS Has 4.2 screen which is usual size for GS?..when you build it surely it must need upgraded XS larger screen or am i missing something?

Was that before you actually drove it?
How on earth do you get 31 mpg (true), not on the Lieometer?

Mike
I am genuinely intrigued to find out how you get a consistent 31mpg from your D4 and even more so, 34mpg.
What model is it? Is the MPG taken from your car or an App? What type of driving are you doing, urban,Mway etc?Do you have A/C and Auto on in the car?
The most I have ever managed is 29.8 on a long Mway journey. The car told me 32.6mpg but the iPhone App told me 29.8.

My running average has never been lower than 30 mpg. It used to be over 32 mpg before the gearbox software update.

Ok, so what model is it, GS/XS/HSE and do you have Aircon and Auto on?
Also what driving are you doing, is it MWay etc?
I am amazed at the mpg being quoted. I have 4 friends with D4's and none of us are getting anywhere near 30mpg average. Mind you we do all live in the sticks so most of the driving is short journeys with some Mway. I do about 75/80mph on Mway with Cruise Control.
I should add, I don't expect to get much over 23mpg average from a 2 tonne vehicle, but I am intigued

Nothing special - its obviously a 2014 MY discovery HSE with various options. It does a mix of driving but not much urban except recently no short journey.
I don't use stop start, I don't hammer it, but then I don't hang around either - so motorway speeds when on the motorway etc.
Its MPG did go up when I checked the tyre pressures
I have a photo somewhere of the dash showing 36/37mpg on its trip up to Hull, when you calculate it, its only 1 mpg or so off on mine since it was electronically messed around withMike

On a 10 mile drive up the A19 to Thirsk (North Yorkshire) I passed quite a few Discos coming in the opposite direction.
No surprise there then, but what did surprise me were the variants.
Of the 8 I passed, these were the model year designations:-
0 x D3s
2 x D4s pre MY14
6 x D4s MY14
would never have expected that type of ratio....... always on the road less travelled 🚧
