Another Injector Thread
Hi everyone,
So, it seems as if I need new injectors. My indie can't understand it as they should not be worn at the mileage of the vehicle. Anyway, what I'd like to know is firstly, does anyone know the part numbers for the injectors and secondly, are there reconditioned injectors available anywhere? Remember that I am in South Africa so would have to factor that into the equation as well.
Just to give you some background.....basically I have a lot of white smoke after idling for a few minutes, which gets progressively worse. It clears up when speeding up on an open run on the highway. There is no noticeable loss of power & she performs perfectly & runs as smooth as normal. After reading a few post here I am lead to believe that it might not be the injectors but could also be a sensor in the rail system??
The vehicle is a 2006 TDV6 HSE. 107 000 miles.
Any comments most welcome.
Steve.

At 107,000 miles it is easily believable that you need new injectors, I've fitted new units to cars with less than half that mileage! LR Direct supply refurbished injectors

I have spoken to him over the phone, but not able to get the vehicle to him as I am in Durban & he is in Jo'burg. Have had the guys at Williams 4x4 do the diagnostic.
I've used them to send various LR bits when I'm in France.
South Africa will take longer and cost more, but shouldn't be a problem!

We thought my injectors were knackered at around the same mileage. We took them out and sent them off for testing. Turned out that they were full of crap and blocked up. Had them cleaned and flow tested, and came back perfect.
Fitted back in the car, and I've done nearly 50k on them with no hassles

You have described the symptoms I had when my EGR coolers started to fail, given the cost I'm not sure I owuld rush out for new injectors.
I would have expected failing injectors to produce blue or black smoke, depending on how bad they were, I would also expect it to get worse under load.
Also, you say white smoke after idling for a while, are you starting the car and letting it idle, or is this more when you get to traffic lights? Water is one of the products of combustion, this can condense in a cool exhaust and present itself as white smoke.
Just a few thoughts.

Hi windswept,
It's both - after starting and letting idle it starts to smoke, but also when stuck in traffic. The diagnostic say there is definately something wrong with the injectors. I get readings in the 1700's on three, and around 600-700 on the other three.
I am hoping they just need to be cleaned out & not replaced.

Ok, so I'll look around for some local shops who will be able to refurbish D3 injectors then.
