Whirring noise
Afternoon all,
I’m getting a noise from the left hand side of the d3 when going round a right hand bend or corner, it’s a whirring noise , don’t get the noise when going round left hand corner or going straight ahead. Would I be right in thinking wheel bearing? any thoughts
Its Got 79k on the clock
Cheers in advance
Roo

Had a similar sound on mine when the O/S/F bearing had started to fail. Replaced both front hubs as a preventative measure and it has been fine since.GAP IID Pro Multi Vehicle Defender L316 2007-2015 - Discovery 3 - Discovery 4 - Discovery Sport L550 - Freelander 2 - Range Rover Evoque L538 - Range Rover L322 - Range Rover L405 - Range Rover Sport L320 - Range Rover Sport L494 Electrical Fault Diagnostics

Wheel bearing on the way out
Failure is a common fault, from anything as low as 40k miles, to as much as 130k or more
The source manufacturer seems to have little impact either, I have fitted LR genuine, Timken and QH with not much difference in service life
They almost seem to be an accepted wear & tear item now, similar to brake pads Never get mad - get even !!

I'm pretty sure all D3's are out of warranty by now, and I can't see any 'extended' warranty covering wheel bearings as they usually only cover items classed as 'major' such as engine, gearbox etc, unless you tell me different
You would possibly have to prove 'unfit for purpose' or find a life/mileage expectancy statement from the manufacturer, that said 'guaranteed to last for 100k miles in all conditions, and that isn't going to happen, imagine how long a wheel bearing would last operating in the Aus outback, or a rain forest
in my experience LR appear to be experts at wriggling out of warranty claims Never get mad - get even !!

Wheel bearings are covered with warranty direct, they cover wear and tear
