Information sheet - Disco3s impact on environment etc.

I've put together a sheet of facts, statistics, truths, details, information, and various bits and pieces on the environmental impact of the Discovery. I've gone into detail on CO2 emissions, contribution to climate change, fuel economy, dust-to-dust energy usage, size on the road, safety, CO2 offsetting and some general facts on Land Rovers reduction in emissions and improvment in efficiency etc.

This is really to help convince the Disco3-owning relative in my family not to sell, but I'm happy to pass it on. PM me with your e-mail address if you want a copy.

It's really just a summary which you can print off and show to people, if you so desire, when accused of any kinds of atrocities prompted by the recent anti-4x4 propaganda bombardment.

Of course I'd be happy to post it here but it's structured as such that it includes diagrams and colours etc so it could be awkward - unless there's a way to post attachments?

Why don't you just upload it as a zip archive to your gallery?

Cheers,

Your Land Rover Discovery 3 and the Environment

I've stuck it into PDF format.

I wouldn't use it in court (so to speak), but it should hopefully portray some facts and truths. Please do correct me on any inaccuracies or omissions.

All good points - well made.

We now need more people in the media to really think about these issues and start doing their job... instead of just peddling Ken & Gordon's money making schemes!

(However, I wish my D3 got anywhere near 30mpg)

For arguments sake and to keep it fair, I just used the figures at the back of What Car? for all of the vehicles listed. Presumably, if you get lower than the quoted figuer then the drivers of the BMWs and Volvos will get lower than the quoted figure (I can vouch for the latter).

NB. What Car? Actually claim 30.7 mpg Shocked

CY, looks good but figures look wrong to me, you say cars overall are responsible for 0.5% of emissions and 4x4's are responsible for 0.28% of them, by that reckoning we should ban them if they're responsible for over half of all car emissions!

I am also assuming these are UK Specific figures... it seems 4x4 vehicles are much more abundant out here in the States than in the UK or whole EU.

CY, Best to take all figures from the same source - you're quite right.

As Slimer says, aren't the figures for 4x4's actually 0.28% of the 0.5% total vehicle emissions - ie 0.14% of total vehicle emissions?

We can prove anything with statistics - a policeman friend of mine told me that out of 15,000 people breath-tested after accidents last Christmas, 8% were over the limit. This proves to me that because 92% of people had accidents without being over the limit - you were less likely to have an accident while drunk !!!

Slimer and crews control - you're right about the figures.
I never have been good at maths Embarassed Rolling Eyes

I will change the figures and replace the PDF. If anybody reckons I should change anything else, please do let me know first so that I can include it in the new upload (my Adobe trial only allows me to convert 5 documents and I've used 1 already).

Cheers.
