Thanks folks.
Simon - thanks for the offer. Thanks also to Martin - pointed me in the direction of a good PDF convertor software (called PDF995 for reference sake). I'll pop the new corrected PDF on in the morning.
bobbycrispbox, I've got an OpenOffice disc somewhere (the local computer shop charged me £15 for it before I knew it could be downloaded for free ) so I'll look at that too.
DiscoDad - that's a pretty fair fuel consumption. We hammer around town (yes Greenpeace, I said town)with lead feet to really put it to through its paces and get the most power - returns 23 mpg which is pretty damned good, considering we had 8.9 mpg on a return trip in the V70 today
What I think we really need is whenever people get >= 30mpg, take a snap of the read out and post it on here. Once we've got a few then we have enough evidence to show that, if driven carefully, the D3 is a pretty efficient machine. 2007 Porsche Boxster (987) 2.7

CY ...don't forget also that you live in a free country ....it isn't illegal to own a D3 ...so I feel that 'choice' should also feature. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Well done CY, it's extremely useful to have all this information in one file. I shall print some off and keep them in the car ready for distribution to any whinging treehuggers!

Many of your negatives about hybrids have been debunked - thoroughly.
I don't understand the need to compare a Rover to a hybrid in the first place. If the numbers you present about emissions are true, then it doesn't make any difference anyway. Drive what best fits your needs. I own a Prius and an LR3, and they get along just fine.
Do D3 owners in your country have to constantly watch for people throwing raw eggs at you while driving? What's going on over there? Is the SUV about to be legislated out of existence or something?
But more than anything, your article just makes me that we don't have Rover diesels here in the US.
